Nug on Fox?
      #449760 - 06/28/08 10:49 AM

Anyone watch Ted Nugents interview on Fox News over the gun issue and then his standing on the 08 election. Pretty good stuff

Uncle Ted has my vote!!! He said what I and everybody on here feel that any gun bans will do nothing but help out criminals and, of course, that the liberals are a bunch of whiners!!!!

He is a draft dodger.

He is more likely to run for Governor of Michigan where he is from.

always gotta have atleast one basher on these threads...still has my vote, the guys a patriot. draft dodging was an accusation. He was a student and got a 1 year student deferment. He later toured a USO show in Afghanistan; now would the U.S. military allow a draft dodger to play for the troops? get off your horse and join in; the guys kicks a$$ and loves to hunt. If he can speak onpenly with confidence and stand up for your rights as a hunter/gunowner why not back him. I never said we need him as governor; but running the NRA would be a great position for him IMO

he dosen't have near the class that heston did.

dont get me wrong, i think the guys awesome, but he needs to look more professional when hes doing interviews. he dosen't really portray the articulate, intellegent individual that he is when he goes on t.v wearing a cut-off shirt.

what gun supporters need is a guy who looks professional when talking about his passion, it matters to those who are on the fence about gun rights, all the valid points comming out of his mouth are overshadowed to alot of folks because all they see is a hick in cut-offs and a camo cowboy hat doing an interview.

perception is reality, if they see a person who fits a stereotype, then they will lump him into that catagory no matter what comes out of his mouth.

as for the draft dodger comment, if it were late 1960's, and i got called up to go to vietnam, i would have used my resources to try and get out of it.

dodging the vietnam war and dodging WW II are two very different things

its just that much of america who is on the fence about gun rights find a hard time relating to him.

I agree with txtrophy85, Nug would have done a lot more good if he had dressed in a suit and tie and not a camo cowboy hat. What he said was good, and you and I agree, but we would agree anyway. The important folks (the majority with the most votes) are likely not impressed with Bubba wearing camo.

I do have to disagree with txtrophy85 one one thing, I was of draft age in the late '60's and was not a damn draft dodger.

Not an accusation, it was an admission. How do you do 300 shows a year and claim a student deferrment at the same time. School of Rock maybe?

"I got 30 days' notice of the physical," Nugent told them. "I ceased cleansing my body. Two weeks before the test I stopped eating food with nutritional value. A week before, I stopped going to the bathroom. I did it in my pants. My pants got crusted up."

When questioned, he admitted that he had "not wanted to get his [censored] blown off in Vietnam,"

"I am not a coward." He also said that "Because I failed to serve in Vietnam, I feel an obligation now, to do everything I can to support those defending our freedom. Do I feel guilt and embarrassment? Yes."

I think Nugent has the power and ability to help hunters and gun owners greatly, I just do not agree with his "In The Face" approach, and I am not the only one.

His service record or John Wayne's or anyone else's or lack there of is not what is important.

What is important is not having ANYONE, regardless of how much we agree with them or how much we think we like them, pissing that middle of the road majority off and pushing them to the other side of the line.
