Just wanted to know at what price do my fellow Texans are seeing s&w 642's at. A local shop is quoting a price of $520. Something tells me they are asking a bit much. Thanks for the help.

WOW! I remember just a few years ago when these were around $350 @ my local shop. High demand + super accelerated inflation = major price jump. I should have gotten one while they were "cheap".
I think you can still find them for the low to mid $400s.

Check the 'Sold' auctions on gunbroker.com. That's a pretty good indicator of what people are paying.

I am looking at the exact same gun for the wife. Sportsmans warehouse has them for $429. My lgs has them for $439 as of today. The blue and stainless are the same price. If that was the version with the Crimson Trace grips, grab it!!! If not I would shop around a little more.
