Ever eat at Javiers in Dallas?
      #440208 - 06/12/08 09:40 AM

I took my wife to Javiers to eat last night for our anniversary. I have to say if you want some good food and want to treat your other to a fine time and look at some awesome deer on the wall and a few big bears go check it out. It is very upper end on the mexican food scale but not bad for a special occasion. We got out for under $100 with appetizer and only one stiff drink.
It is in a ritzy part of town but like a said for a treat to someone go check it out. Check out the cars in the main parking lot, it looked like a car show!

Yes, love that place. They have some great wall mounts of all kinds. The green sauce rocks.

Love their stuff but having been there since kids. That would be over 3 years ago! So now taco bell is about it. Thought you didn't have a job! Last time I was there Craig Miller was hanging out with 'Chutch' Chad Hutchinson. Remember that one??

I have been there, had an appetizer and a beer. Passed up on the so called mexican food they were serving. It is a bit ritzy, maybe thats why the food sucks. They figure people who go in there to eat may not know any better. It is more of a atompsphere type restraunt then good food, or even close to good food.

How would you know if the food sucked if you passed it up? I think the guacamole and fajitas are the only thing I really like there. You can get better steaks at a steak house.

It is like high fence hunting, not for everyone or their budget.

He's just mad because I poked fun at his whisker biscut, so he said their food sucks.

Went there a couple years ago. The ritziness was unpleasant. The food was good. I don't plan on going back. I'd rather spend the money somewhere else, like a good bbq joint or roadhouse.

it's all about good cooks and good recipe's and keeping it consistent. i've eaten mexican food all over the place and there are a lot bad one's out their, but also different type's of so called tex-mex or mexican food, family owned place's are usually hard to beat, and the atmosphere in some are not up to some people's standards (hole in the wall) but not all are south of san antone either, but granted your chance's are better and not as much of a gamble.

You must have never been to DFW. Or were you meaning Mexico? Thats MEXICIAN FOOD. I think everyone were referring to "Tex-Mex?" Good TM is all over Texas. Look for the cars. The only good TM restaurant that was different from most and good is a little place in Van Horn called Chuy's. Not what most are used to but the Chili Rellenos are the bomb. I get a plate of my usual and a dozen Chilis on the side. They batter and deep fry them and then put them on the grill and serve them plain. John Madden has his own chair at Chuy's and calls ahead to have his signiture dish ready everytime he buses through.

Javiers is expensive. It was good though. We went there with my wife'd office account picking up the tab, for about 30.....drinks and all it was about 2400.

I had the steak and quail, after the appetizer, and before the dessert, and with several adult beverages before and after...

Did you ever see the $8 cup of coffee? They "cook" it for you at the table, set it on fire while you watch??? That's worth the money just to see.

But for better Mexican food, at better prices, go to RJ's in west end, or even better, Rapahel's out on 380 west of McKinney east of Denton; or the BEST....La Hacienda in Greenville, wow, that's the best. Had lunch there today. $12 for me and the boy, he had tilapia with grilled veggies and I had the grilled chicken enchiladas (instead of my favorite "combo" enchiliadas 9Chicken, Beef and Spinach))
