Here is what i tell my customers who want to 'do it themselves'.

Take the skull and place it into a bucket of water, preferably one that has a lid. Let it sit in the water for a few weeks (this will clean all the meat off). This process will smell badly if your skull has a lot of meat left on it.

I personally do not boil any skull/bone...as this tends to SOMETIMES weaken the bone and/or make it chalky.

Remove it from the water, and rinse it off well. If you have a greasy skull (such as pig, bear, coon, etc..) let it sit in some warm water with dawn or greased lighting overnight.

The next day, take skull out of degreaser and let sit in the sun for a few days.

If you skull is not white enough from sun-bleaching: Get some peroxide (3% in the brown bottle) from Wal-mart... Submerge the skull in the peroxide (use a plastic container with a lid) and leave it for a few days. If you have a skull with antlers, do not get the antlers in the peroxide. You can then dry in the sun again, until nicely white.

This is a simplified version of the method used in my shop. Hope this helps.

Don't take life so seriously...it's only temporary.

I can kill it, clean it, cook it, and put it on the wall
