I recently ordered some plans from hutingblindplans dot com and they are great. For $20 you get plans for a 4x4, 4x6 and two waterfowl plans. They give you materials lists and dimensions of wood. I just dropped that off a Lowe's and they cut it all one day and I picked it up the next. I am going to start building this evening.
That's a good heads up. Thanks!

I have 2 of these and they are nice. They come with everything except the 4 peices of 1/2 plywood. https://www.strongbuiltinc.com/xcart/StrongBuilt-Tower-Blind-Kit-pr-16209.html
Even better! Should I use plywood or should I use a different material?
I have one of these. It's a great stand; extremely sturdy after you add in some angle braces of your own. Another note....it's HEAVY and a real pain in the arse to set upright. There were three of us and it almost killed us getting up in the air.
We have a big New Holland tractor on the property to help us lift such arse pains!

Here are a couple pics of the strongbuilt kit blind. If you look at the second pic you can see the paint is gone on the edges, that is from the front end loader of my tractor. Me and my wife set it up by ourselves. It wasn't easy, but if she was better driving the tractor it would have been a lot easier.

Helomech, That looks like a real nice setup for the price. Did you put any carpet, insulation or shelves? Is the celing flat or angled? Sorry for all the questions but it looks like I need to get one of these.

That's funny, sort of. Hate that you had them cut all of the wood for wrong plans! Treated wood adds weight too. The first blind I built I used treated 4X4's for legs and treated 2X4's for the rest of the framing. I moved it twice then donated it to a landowner so I'd never have to move it again. That thing weighed a ton and was only 4X4X6 and 4' or so off of the ground. Never again, I try to go the lighter route now and they still come out heavy!

Sorry, I didn't see this post until now. I have carpet lining the entire inside, and have boat type seat in it. The ceiling is flat, but is covered by sheetmetal that comes in the kit. It is 3 peices of sheetmetal. One for each side, and they touch in the middle, and one fairly wide sheet to cover where the other to meet. It hasn't leaked at all since I put it up. I need to put some shelves in it, but haven't done so yet.

tgil,
Luckily yjr cut list included some excess on each board so I did not have to buy any more wood. It was just the cuts I made on the first board that were wrong. None too happy about it, but I got it figured out.
The pressure treated lumber is very heavy, but the good thing about the blind is that if I need to move it it comes apart and will fit in the bed of a pickup.

Looks good. Are you going to elevate it?

Looks good. However, I would paint it even though you used the pressure treated plywood. Also, I would install some rain guards over the windows to help shed the water away from the railings.

I plan on painting it, but the wood was still wet from the pressure treatments so I wanted it to dry out first. I also have guards to go over the windows and the rails on the windows have holes in the bottom to allow water to drain out if necessary (you know those sideways rains we get sometimes).
I do not plan to elevate it at this time because it is not necessary in the position it is in. Most of the trees around a either browsed up pretty high or shorter than the window. If I relocate it at a later date I would consider elevating.

By about 1/2" That is because of the internal framing. I have tested it and it is not that big of a deal.

I am building 2 blinds this week. If you have a moving companies in or around your city, buy the crates, made out of plywood. We had 3(2 burned) and they worked out great. I think Trent paid 20 dollars per crate. Just cut your windows and door, paint ect. You can customize them as much as you want. They may be a little banged up, but not to bad. The ones we have are 4X8X6 and easily accomadated 3 adults, comfortably.

I will get some this weekend. We built an elevated blind and didn't have much time for anythign else. Someone PMed me about where to get the crates, and I accidentely delted the PM. The crates can be bought at a moving company, usually for 20-30 bucks.
