Decent Corn Prices
      #438328 - 06/09/08 02:25 PM

FYI - if you live near Denton county or don't mind making the drive - Donald Paddock Feed Store in Krum is selling 50lb bags at a fairly reasonable price:

1 Bag - $7.00
1/2 ton (20 bags) - $6.75
1 ton (40 bags) - $6.50

What sucks though is the corn is in paper bags!! I hate those, but at 6.50 per bag for 1 ton - I'll deal with it.

By the way, they told me they'll be going up in price very shortly.

I paid 8.50 for a 50 lb bag today. Me and the wife were talking about the price of corn today. I have 3 feeders, and a whole I put corn in for the hogs. I am buying 6 bags of corn a month. That is less than 50 bucks a month, but we don't buy any meat from the store. So there is no way I could buy meat for 50 dollars a month. The price of corn is still way cheaper for me than buying meat at the store. And it is my favorite pass time. Watching all the animals, and killing hogs. And hunting during deer season.

do yall not have an academy around???? academy always has it for $5.99 or less/40lb bag, tough plastic bags too. thats about $40 more per ton than $6.50/50lb bag special. its $40 per ton cheaper than $8.50/50lb bag though. no tax either.

my father in law gets a discount, so we buy a ton at a time for about $250 which lasts almost a year.

I bought a ton yesterday for 6.95$ per 50#. Local feed store, they told me they were raising prices soon. Last year I was buying from a neighbor/farmer for something like 7$ per 100# you bag.

The feed store had free delivery on any ton of feed since I've been buying from them. I noticed a little sign on the door saying they were charging 20$ per delivery now.

I buy feed at Burleson Feed Mill by the bulk, not in the bags. Its cheaper.

Whole corn=$14.50 cwt
Soybean Hull/corn glutten (Mix #4)= $12.00 cwt
Alfalfa Pellets= $15.00 cwt

The soybean /corn gluten is a pellet that deer love and provide an excellent source of protein. It works great in typical feeders without clogging anything up.

All I am going to say is if you have a place to store it, you better get it now. It has already gone up 2 bucks since last season. I predict 9.00 by august and pushing 10.00 by november.

Better start stocking up now with all of that flooding in the Midwest in the last few days there will a lot of corn fields that will be too flooded for the corn to survive. With the current price and the floods all corn can do is go higher.

Okay, for you guys around San Antonio or guys headed south of San Antonio down Interstat 35....you had better stop at Villareal Brothers and get your corn today or tomorrow before 12:00. Right now, corn is $6.75 per bag. If you buy more than 20 bags, $6.60 per bag. I was told by their receptionist, it will go up .50 to .75 per bag on Monday!! Better hurry!!

We stopped feeding corn and just feed protein for this year. During the winter we may start using some corn in part with some of the hunting and food plots again as well.
