Buffalo Springs Ranch Hunting Lease
9100 +/- acre ranch consisting of range land and 421 of CRP. The ranch is located in Dallam County north of the town of Dalhart, Texas, which is 80 miles north of Amarillo, Texas in the Central Flyway. This Region of the Texas Panhandle is home to over 300,000 wintering waterfowl. This is the 2nd largest number of migrating waterfowl in North America. The Ranch is home to the historical Buffalo Springs. The ranch has a nice 6-7 acre pond. It also has approximately 1.5 miles of creek, and several smaller ponds that contain year round water. The ranch also has several smaller playa lakes that will have water on wet years. This ranch is in the far northwest corner of the panhandle of Texas and many miles from other sources of year round water. This makes it a true magnet for waterfowl and wildlife.
The ranch has a monument erected by the state of Texas in 1936 it states: Its permanent water made it known at the opening of the 17th century as a great hunting ground alive with buffalo & mustangs, a cow camp before 1878, since 1982 headquarters of the XIT Ranch, once the largest fenced ranch in the world consisting of three million acres exchanged for the construction of the state capitol.
These springs are home to 1000s of ducks and many geese during the winter time. You will also find wild pheasant, whitetail, and mule deer. This property has never been offered to the public and has not been hunted for the past 5 years. The lease includes waterfowl hunting, pheasant hunting, and 1 hunter may take 1 whitetail buck.
I will be offering this to the public for the first time and will take offers on the lease. I would like to see no more than 4 hunters on the lease. Water and electricity is available on site. This would be a season long lease.

I’ve had a few questions about this. I would like to price it as primarily a bird hunting lease with the deer thrown in as a free bonus.

Sure would like to lease it for a weekend (strictly ducks and geese). It's just too far for me to do a season lease. I love hunting waterfowl up there.

I will keep that in mind but would much rather do this as a season lease.

Please do. My boy and I had one of the best hunts ever in that area. Limits of mallards and Canadas in 2 hours.

Ok I have had lots of interest in this lease via pm but most guys don't want to bid on it so I will price similar to other waterfowl leases I have found (which is not too many). For the birds only I would like $1450 per hunter. This does not include the deer I had stated early seems nobody wants both. I will help with taking care of the lease and I do have a back hoe and tractor on the ranch. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks

Sounds like an awesome lease. I'd love to get on something like this but it's way to far away to really take advantage of for me. If people are not jumping on it well maybe it's priced too high.

Well I appreciate the interest it seems that most are in the same situation as you. It doesn't seem like there are a lot of panhandlers on here. I will entertain all offers.
There are lots of antelope on the ranch but I reserve all antelope hunting. I offer guided hunts for the antelope. Visit my website at www.sagebrushhunts.com for pics and details.
