Great site gang!
I am going to look at a lease that has 2 miles of Red River frontage in the area between Vernon and Quanah. I was on a lease up that way 10 years ago and found the area very ripe with game...quail, turkey, deer, varmits, dove. Though we were mainly hunting quail, dove and turkey at the time, I remember there being a fair amount of ducks in the Red River and the related slews.
The property I am going to look at has several good size tanks in addition to the frontage.
Anyone have anything thing can share about waterfowl hunting in this area?
Thanks, Mike

Welcome to the THF, I hunt mostly Northeast Arkansas. When I'm at home I hunt a slew about 100yds from the Red River in Northeast Texas. I have hunted the River when it was low and my best friend and me found a sand bar in the river. It was about 4" of water flowing over it and used fullbody decoys. We set the decoys away from the shore line and camoed up in the brush. It was GAME OVER for the ducks!!! Got our limits and went to the house, goes to show you. Spend alot of time trying to be different from everybody else. Hunt different places, decoy spreads and most of THINK OUT SIDE THE BOX.
LISTEN TO THESE GUYS ON THE FORUM HERE. They can help you alot, I have learned alot reading the threads they write over the years. If you don't know ask these guys most are willing to help you if they can. Just DON'T ASK FOR THE SPOT THEY HUNT. They will not tell you!!! I hope that helps you a little and again WELCOME!!! Jason

FYI, Oklahoma License(due to Indian Nation agreement) is required if you are hunting in the Red River or on the southern edge of the Red River, banks. (Median flow of river) Same for fishing the river.

The property that I am looking at is on the Oklahoma side so would definately have to have OK licenses.
Going to meet the landowner tomorrow. If it looks good I am going to nail it down.
Depending on the cost, I might be posting back here later to see if one or two others would be interested.
