what to do? pics added AND NOW THE UPDATE @ BOTTOM OF REPLIES
      #419992 - 05/07/08 09:54 PM

I just got my fox back from the taxi, and it is awful, non lifelike, deformed looking and this thing cost some $$$$$. But I am not satisfied with this. What should be done on this. TY :hammer [image]http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/[/image] [image]http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/[/image] [image]IMG]http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u80/pdawg_photo/101_0018.jpg[/IMG][/image] If you'll notice his leg is hiked and his chest is deformed not to say anything about his eyes or head is looking up after telling him he would be on the mantle and we wanted him tilted down.

I did and he said he could rehidrate it but it would not look as good as it does right now, so that was a real relief. Not trying to be picky but look at what I got for 600.00 signed really dissapointed

$600 for a full mount fox?!?! Are you kidding? And that quality or lack of, doesn't even come close to half that price. I had a full mount bobcat done for $350 and it came out great! Don't know who you selected as your taxidermist, but you might want to check others out.

Ask him IF would do another one for you since this one was not to your specifications.

Holy cow! Who did that?

Did he stick a stuffed animal head on it?

Put a smoking jacket on him and make him a Fox of Leisure.

Did you describe the way you wanted the fox to be posed to your taxi?

yeah, that would get me a little upset, especially if i gave him specific instructions. have you seen this taxi's other work. my dad is going through the samething with a buck he got back this year that looks like doe with horns, but the taxi is going to take care of it a new cape. if this taxi is anykind of businessman and wants repeat business and referals he should do the same. as far as the price if that's what he charges then that's his business, but for that price the fox should look like he got in your house and is just hanging out on your mantel.

Was that thing gay when you shot it? Just kidding, I think your stuck with what you got. I had a taxidermist mount a pintail with its foot arc'd up and it looks terrible. Of course I didnt ask for that and theres not much that can be done to fix the problem. Maybe you could sell it to a restraunt or put it in the garage.
Sell it you a restraunt

I'd be ticked off at first ut I usually pour tequilla shots when life throws me lemons... I have to say, that is the funiest looking mount I've ever seen! Personally, I'd keep it! Anyone coming over to the house would sure to have a good laugh...no matter how many times they see it! Maybe take it to the deer camp? Perhap's put it in a deer blind on a shelf! No matter, just keep the cheerful little bastard!

I'm savng this to my desktop!

Well I took this fox back to the taxi , and he looked at it and said that he sure did not see that leg up in the air and he would ship it off to get it fixed, ( humm) , then we discussed the head position, he remembered me telling him we was setting it up on the mantle and we wanted it looking at us. The next day he called and told me he was not going to charge me for the resetting of the leg , but to fix the head he was going to have to charge me. At that time I told him I was appauled that he would even think of charging me after us telling him we was setting it up on the mantle and wanted it to look down at us, clearly this is not our fault. He at that time got pretty upset and told me , he never heard that, after repeating to us the same in our first visit when we dropped this fox off. He began cussing and ranting and raving and I asked him not to use that type of tone or lingo for this was clearly his fault and all my friends here on the hunting forum was eqaully appauled at the job he had done ,Oh and by the way, At this time I was told to tell all you that yall were a bunch of F&^%$king idiots and yall no nothing about taxi work so shut the Hel*** up and mind your own business. Now this was very professional of him I am sure , so I told him to leave it alone and I would let a judge in small claims court decide what the best action to do is. If I would have told him we were going to put it down on the mantle then looking up would have been exceptable but he was told up, I reminded him. Man what a mess. Final is he decided to fix it and lord knows what it will turn out like. Just thought I would pass this on. Oh and by the way if you ever need a trahy mount done go to Smithfield TEXAS and hire Memories on the Wall.

I've used that Taxi many times and have not had any problems,I was in this shop earlier this week and heard about this, the taxi told me that he would fix the mount free of charge. From the pics I can't see the deformed body but the leg is up and the head is not down. Why did'nt you mention this when you picked the fox up.

I did not pic it up because my wife picked it up and did tell him she was not happy with it. And he did call me and tell me he was going to charge me for the head, but after we discussed things he changed his mine. And yes he did do a very nice job on my turkey tail mount, and did not have a problem till he got irrate with me and wanted to charge me for the head. The deformness is because the leg is up and raised the shoulder so my bad on that but if the leg was down it would be ok. I just feel like this could have, and should have been handled in a more professional manner thats all. I have a problem with people hollering at me, especially when I am paying for thier services.

It sounds like the situation got out of hand by who I dont't know. I would let the taxi fix the mount and try to make the best out of this.I think you will be happy when it comes back and then you can enjoy your fox.

As far as enjoying the fox, after all this , it will be a sore subject for quite a while. As far as him fixin it, well I guess I will just have to see. At this point its a wash to me, there will be memories, but not like they should have been. I did , not knowing enough of the cost agree to pay his price , so no hard feelings there. As far as who got out of line well, I never raised my voice and cussed him, but after asking numerous times for him to tone it down, well then I did raise the tone to him where I could be heard, so maybe I was out of line for wanting what I asked for but whatever, tommorrow is a new day and there will be other taxi work done but not by him, for me. Bassbuster if he is your friend, not meaning to try to rile anyone up, all I can say to you is hook sets are free and I hope you well in your fishing.

Are you even reading any of this??? What do you mean you don't know who let it get out of hand??
I don't care what happens, someone that owns a business and is charging ungodly amounts for his services should NEVER talk to a customer like that.

BTW, this thread is really cracking me up!

I like it. I wouldn't change a thing. In fact, next fox I shoot I'm taking it there and asking for the "limp wrist" look. It's awesome.
