Thanks Big_Orn and dogcatcher! I'll do my best! Last year I had a big buck come up, but I couldn't get my gun rest "mechanism" to swing to my right to get my crosshair on him! I did get a really nice 8 I really like and looks good on my wall! Thanks again and I'll tell Hag hi!
Oh, I can only shot what Hag will let me shot! I'm just glad to be hunting with TheHag....... :

Ha Jay,
Glad to see back again. September has been busy here with 3 dove hunts and 1 trip to Pensacola, Florida for a great USN reunion. Must have gained 10 lbs on the reunion. Got to rest up a little from all the fun. Saw a lot of old faces and some new one. We also went to the USN Naval Air Museum at NAS Pensacola-great, great museum. I really enjoyed seeing the old crew after 37 years. These crazy guys never change and it meant a lot to me to see them again after so many years. We all stayed in a large 3 story condo on the beach and tried to party like old times, but bedtime came a little earlier than the norm for us old timers. LOL
Got to get out to the range and get ready for Deer Hunt with Roy and LSTO. I am really excited about this hunt and can’t wait to see some old faces and dear friends again. Also put in for TPWLD drawing hunt and got selected for one on Jan 12th at Matador WMA with some old BSA friends. Then one of the great COA hunts- Hope to see you there if possible?
Did you get any information on the 12th Annual Lake Somerville Challenged Deer hunt? If not get in touch with Hunt Coordinator at Somerville Project Office 979 596 1624 or Kenneth Knesek 979 535 4074. Sounds like a great hunt and I will post information if I can get it. It is real close to you!
Wish you the best with your old friends and I know you are looking forward to seeing the Hag family again.

Cheers to you Tommy for all you do for DRT. Maybe DRT will kick up more than a lot of dirt this year. LOL
DRT I hope to see you this year somewhere. You are quite an inspiration, a great guy, and I enjoy visiting with you.
Best always,
James

Hey James,
I'm glad you got to go to Florida, I hear You ate all the seafood up! I can tell that you'jj had a really good time.
Where are you hunting with Roy and LSTO?

I got my app. in with the Somerville hunt, just got to get drawn! If I don't, then I'll just go and hang out with some friends that I go to Church with, they been volunteering for several years. It's fun just to hang out with everyone.

I'm going to hunt with Hag Dec. 8th. I'm ready and I really love hunting with him.
Hag and his family are Awesome, we have a really good time and I really love it there. They are so kind. You know it's hard to really show how much I really appreciate all that they have done for me, it leave's me Speechless.

James, you have a safe hunt and I hope you get the freezer full.

Thanks for the kind words and maybe we will have to go and meet up with hillbilly and do some crappie fishin.

Take care my friend,
Jay

We're ready to have Jay and Donnie to the ranch again this year. We really enjoy having Jay at the ranch and being able to give him the chance to get to hunt. We are just fortunate that we have somewhere we can take him and that we're set up for handicapped hunters. My cousin is a spina bifida child. So, everything we have done for over 30 years is built with handicapped people in mind.

Jay should have another great hunt this year. We'll post the whole story on here after it happens.

No kudos deserved here on this end. We just enjoy having him and Donnie at the ranch.

Well Jay.... The deer are hitting your feeder really hard! There are at least a dozen deer there at each feeding. The turkey are coming to the noon feeding too!! We should be able to get something this year,,,,, providing you don't blow dirt in their eyes!

There aren't any hogs coming in though. Maybe now that the cold weather has arrived and the acorns will sour in a short time, the hogs will be looking for your feeder.

It's getting closer and closer to D day for you my friend!!

We tied a red bandana on a 6 pointer so you can see him easier.

HaHa on the red Bandana, I thought we would use the florescent orange this year.
I'm going to bring my own drit, you know that stuff in a spray bottle and then we'll can smell all the dirt we can handle.

Hey Hillbilly.... tried to call you a couple of times. Got a busy signal both times. The kidney stone was a killer!! I feel like someone beat me up with a baseball bat! I was hollering morphine, morphine at the emergency room!!! That was my 9th stone and they seem to get worse as this old body gets some age on it.

Hey Jay!!!! Only 6 more days!!!! Just in case it's too muddy for your van, I have a trailer with a ramp that I'm bringing. That way we can make sure you can get to your Condo!!! I even put two heaters in it this year so you won't even have a chance at getting cold. It's supposed to be nice when you come with temperatures in the 60's. I can't wait!!!

Jay,
Good luck on your hunt this year. Forget the dirt and shot for the hair or feathers. I know you will have a good time regardless. Like Tommy said- you are an inspiration to be around. Hope to soon see you with some nice pictures of that buck, and a good story!

We actually DO have a young 6 pointer with a red bandana around his neck. He got caught in one of our pig traps. When my ranch hand caught him to get him out of the trap, he tied a red bandana around him so no one would shoot him (thinking he would be someone's pet). It's funny to see him on one end of the ranch in the morning and 3 miles away that afternoon of the same day. Kinda reminds me of the beef jerky commercial where the guy gets tranquilized and wakes up with the ear tag. I can only imagine what the other deer are saying about him when he walks by with that bright red bandana on.

Jay,,, it's getting closer and closer to "D" day. The weather report says mid 60's all weekend with no chance of rain.

I'm ready, I talk with Donnie and was hoping on leaving around 8am, now it looks like it might be 10am. So We will see you hopfully around 3:30pm.

Thanks 7mag, Thats great that James is getting to go. The first time I met James, I new he was a great person, just like The Hags, his family and Ted.
It's been a long time since I talk with James. He still is active in helping those that are less fortuned and for helping disabled Veterans and other disabled people.
7mag, You, the Hag, James & Hillbilly do a lot for the disabled and I Thank all of you from the bottom of my heart. I know that I'm not that active in helping and I wish I was more helpful, maybe I am helpful somewhere in the life of others, only God knows.
God Bless You all,
Jay

Ha Jay,
Good to hear from you again. Jay, You are always an inspiration and as always upbeat about life.
You are a true man of great sprit.
I look back at some of the hunts we have shared and think “If Jay can do this then I don’t have any problems except keeping up with Jay”.
Hope you are doing well and I can see you are out making plans. Keep shaking the bushes and the birds will fly for you. If I hear of anything special I will give you a call. I am sure Tommy will show up here pretty soon. I know you have won some true friends in the Hag family hunts. We all wish you luck with this year’s season. I sure wished you would try to make one of the several COA hunts this year. You would really enjoy the fine group. Dearil and Darren already has a schedule posted. Need any help give me a holler.
As you can see Roy has come up with another great hunt which I am really looking forward to. LSTO and Pecos county is some beautiful country. And to share the campfire and stars with some old friends really makes for some special times. I am looking forward to the hunt and seeing friends very much.
Always James

Thanks James, I'm hoping I can get to hunt with Tommy again. He has been working pretty hard. I would like to make a COA Hunt, it's just the money only goes so far during hunting saeson. I would love to make the hunt with you and 7mag down in Sweetwater, maybe one day. I would just splurge and shot me a cull buck or something. We'll get together and hunt one of these days.
Jay

Bad news Jay. One of my partners in the business degraded me in front of an employee back in April. During our next partner's meeting, I brought the subject up for discussion. After he practicly called me an idiot and questioned my intelligence in the meeting, I resigned from the company. It was tough to resign after 40 years in the business.

My mother owns 75% of the ranch, but the estate is managed by my uncle that owns 25% of the ranch. He got mad that I quit because the company owes him $1 million dollars for his share of the business he sold to the company when he retired. He knows the company will not do as well without me being there and is nervous about the company's ability to pay him back over the next 10 years. So, he's mad at me now.

It turns out that the hunting rights to the ranch are leased to "The Company". They told me that since I am no longer with the company, even I can't hunt down there!! My mother is upset about it, but has to listen to my uncle. So, I had to go down to the ranch and pick up all my stands and feeders yesterday. Still need to go back and disassemble your stand and bring it in, plus the tall gun stand. I am still looking for a place for us to hunt. So, don't give up yet. I'm trying to talk them into at least letting me take you out there.

My uncle is trying to cause enough problems to make my mother sell the ranch. He keeps telling her she needs to just sell the ranch to elimiate the conflicts we are having. I found out his motive,,,, he wants to buy the ranch from her. He owns 25% of the ranch and wants it all. She doesn't want to sell it though because she knows what will happen if the uncle gets full control over it.

I will sure miss hunting at the ranch. I've been hunting down there since 1970.

Since my leaving, the ranch has gone to pot. The roads are so bad, my truck had a rough time going down the roads. No one has worked the cattle in over 3 months!!!

Hang in there and let me see what I can work out. I have been offered 100 acres just South of Abilene that I can hunt for free. It has a lot of deer and hogs on it. Haven't seen it yet, but will see it next weekend and set everything up. It has a small cabin on it too, I've been told.
