I got the application for the Wright Patman hunt today and will send it out tomorrow. It asked for proof of disability. Will a copy of my Social security disability approval letter be sufficient? I also have a letter my Dr had written about my condition for the VA but it is over a year old now. Hopefully those two things will be enough.

I was wondering about bringing someone with me. My dad will be here for Thanksgiving. Not sure if its allowed or how it would work. Any help would be great. Thanks.

Nathan.
What you have will be sufficient for you disability just send it along.
Your Dad is welcome to come and sit with you and enjoy the campfire and food, he can not hunt unless he is disabled.

Ditto Nathan

Dearil,
Looking forward to seeing the COA crew again. Also sharing the new fireplace that COA and COE built. The picture of the Fireplace and rockwork looked fantastic. Great job. I know everyone is proud of it. Have you got a picture of the fireplace on the website yet? I would post a picture or a link to fireplace and pavilion but I can’t find one at the moment.

Im looking forward to meeting everyone as well. Just wondering about the place we will be hunting. I understand that blinds are already in place and everything. Are they set up for closer range or distance? Just wondering with the way they are setup, an open sighted 30-30 for close to mid range, or a .270 with scope for long range would be better? Will there be info sent out about when to meet and how everything is going to work? Sorry for so many questions, just excited as I thought I was not going to get out to hunt at all. Thanks.

You have some blinds that or close range and some long shots 300 or 400 yards long.A 270 with a scope will work for all of the blinds. If you need a map I will email you one on how to get here, We hold a safety meeting each morning. If you need more info. fill free to call and ask.

Just wanted to let everyone know my brother, my dad and I, just got back from the hunt. It was a GREAT time. We hunted thursday and friday. The folks who put this thing on are amazing. Everyone was very nice and very helpful. We showed up early thursday and we were all briefed on how things were gonna work, then had a drawing for stand location. They rode us out to the stand and left us out there til lunchtime. Came and picked us up and we had an excellent lunch with some good barbque and pecan pies! Sit around with full bellies for a while, then went back out for the evening hunt following another stand drawing. The first evening, my brother took a good sized doe. Only his second deer ever. He was very excited. Everything worked the same the second day of the hunt. We talked with everyone and sat around the fire. Had some great food. Out of the 25 or so hunters, There were 8 or so deer taken in the two days. The corp of engineer guys were out there and I learned quite a bit from talking to them. I did not even see anything but still had a great time and feel fortunate to have been able to do this. Talk about a great organization. I wanted to thank Dearil and everyone else who had a part in putting this on and or volunteered to help for the event. It was great to be able to get back into the woods.
