Parvo report

Ace is a gamer, she hasn't eaten since Sat night and is fighting an illness that takes a vast majority of the young pups it strikes.

Yesterday her white cell count was still very low so my vet gave here a shot used in cancer patients to try and increase white cell count. A last ditch effort. This morning she still has a very low count thourgh more than yesterday, but this morning she showed interest in food and licked some from a spoon. This is the first encourging sign in three days. Doc said she was trying to clean herself up and showed inrterest when staff entered the area.

He said he is going to give her another shot of the white cell med (on the house, thank goodness) this morn. She's hanging in and my spirits are lifted a little.

Re: Parvo report

man hope she pulls through..When i have puppies around.the first sign of not eating and diarreah i take them to the vet..I had 2 labs that both got parvo when puppies and they pulled through..I just cringe when I see people take new puppies to the dog parks..It also runs rampant in college towns...Keep us updated...

Re: Parvo report

have a buddy who's youngest pup contracted parvo last summer. he made it but it was touchy. I was at the vet last week getting the snake shot. I told him go ahead and vacinate for rabies and parvo. glad I did. best of luck to you and Ace.

Re: Parvo report

I had a run in with this awfull disease a couple of months ago with a borrowed dog box. Couldnt keep my eyes off my off my new pup for two weeks, while reading alot of horrifying stories on the internet. She already had her first booster, but you never know. She never contracted it, but thats all I could think about everyday. My prayers are with you and your dog.

"God made the earth, the sky and the water, moon and the sun. He made man and bird and beast. But, he didnt make the dog. He already had one."

Re: Parvo report- Fri morn.

Ace still has a low white cell count which is not good, but the Doctor said she’s coming to her kennel door whenever someone comes in and is wagging her tail. So she appears to be feeling better. They changed the antibiotic today and gave her some anti-nausea medication and will try to get her to eat this am. Hopeful but still not around the corner.

Re: Parvo report- Fri morn.

Hang in there Chet. If you've caught it soon enough, Ace should make it! I had a lab pup last year that came down with it, but I caught in time... and about $1700 later, he pulled thru and is a stranger to no one, now!

Re: Parvo report- Fri morn.

This past Fri Ace's white sell count went from 1400 to 14,000. It looks like she may be turning the corner. She eat Sat. and Sun morn with out throwing up and seems stronger and more alert. But still isn't eating much in the afternoons. Doc says if she continues to inprove she can go home Monday (today).........Yahoo
