HUNTING TURKEY QUESTIONS ![]() ![]() Tell me what is in these pics,male or female. If you were in that blind how would shoot them? Are those big turkey's?

Just my opinion, other folks mileage may vary. Top picture I believe those are both hens, or the bird on the right behind the deer is a jake and the bird closer to the feeder is a hen. The bird in the bottom picture I believe is a gobbler, probably a 3 or 4 year old bird. As far as shots go, in the top picture there is really no shot opportunity, or does not appear to be one due to the apparent proximity of birds to deer. In the bottom picture it looks like you would have an open shot on that bird. Also, you need to consider which season and what county you are in. In many counties during the Fall season, hen turkeys are legal game. It used to state that "Bearded Hens" were legal and then the wording was changed, so that ANY hen is legal, but only during the Fall season. If the other bird in the top photo is a jake then it would be legal in either season, as would the bird in the bottom photo if it is a gobbler. The main thing to do is check your county listing. |
