Check those arrow shafts before shooting

Picked this warning up from a poster on another forum. Advice well given and taken !!!

ALWAYS FLEX AND TURN YOUR CARBON SHAFTS!!!

Do this about three to four turns on each shaft!
If you hear or feel the slightest crack.

DESTROY THAT SHAFT IMMEDIATELY!!!

Or this could be the result!

Re: Check those arrow shafts before shooting

I did that with an old fiberglass arrow years ago before carbon arrows became popular with a recurve bow, and it does leave a scar, and the feeling will eventually come back, but not quite the same after many, many years.

Mine was at the base of the thumb on the left hand.

Do check your arrows visually, and by taping them, and don't try to shoot all your arrows into one tight nice little group, even though it looks cool, but your asking for trouble.

Shoot single spots, and it saves you having to replace cracked arrows, and having to replace nocks, and fleching, and most of all prevents what happened above.

I shouldn't have shown my wife this. Her comments were that riffle hunting is safer.

That is why I am not showing my wife. I hope she doesn't look at this thread.
