Carpet tacks not working out to good. Time to go back to a varmint cage.

See how your legs are mounted at the base of your barrel? Mount your legs higher up on the barrel, the coon will have a harder time reaching below the barrel and you wont need as tall of a ladder to fill it up. I do it this way and have no problems, and dont use a stupid coon gaurd.

Your t-posts aren't helping...
Put your feeder on a tripod winch system or remove the t-posts, add PVC pipe around the legs suspended from the upper feeder inserts/legs and put up a feed pen to exclude livestock and feral hogs or place predator cones around the legs above the t-posts.

I think all of the above needs to happen. Starting with the t-post being shorter, followed by PVC over the legs, and last but not less fix the leg mounts. I don't like coons but you got to hand it to their relentless pursuit of food!

Shameless plug here. Bossbuck sells feet for feeder legs that have a slot for a T post. The slot for the T Post will put the T post away from the legs. The pad is fairly large and will help stabilize your feeder even without the T post. Check out www.bossbuck.com.

Like deerfeeder this is a shameless plug. Look into a winch feeder. When built properly most winch feeders remove a way for a coon to grab hold or get to the timer/spinner, thus removing them crawling your legs. Remember anything you put out there a coon can and will hold onto they will, so nothing should be attached the the side of the drum if possible.

OK, I will try to draw a picture here.
Take 4" PVC cut it so it will be about 6" from the bottom of the feeder leg and about 1' or 1'1/2 from bottom of feeder barrel.
Take feed leg off and slide leg through PVC.
Take a small piece of chain(that little size stuff) about a 1' long.
Screw or bolt chain to the top edge of the PVC and then screw the other end of the chain on the top of the feeder leg or the bottom of the feeder barrel.
Your PVC can not be touching the ground, it has to be loose so it can spin(PVC) in either direction.
Put a large varmit cage around your spinner will also help, between the both, tis should take care your problem.
I hope this helps, if you make it tough on them getting anything to eat, they will move on.

Don't buy the 14' x 14' folding coonguards that are sold at various places. They are not big enough and the coons just stick there arms thru the hole and spin the plate. When they get board with that they will just rip the thing apart since it is held together by cheap little clasp that couldn't hold a fart in.
