Quail are SPOTTY around Mendard. Buddy of mine has a section out by Ft. McKavett. He has quail, but you dont always see them. You will see more deer and turkeys than quail. If you run milo in your deer feeders you will probably have a covey that will come in and hang around the feeder. This is good and bad- Good you are feeding quail (and turkeys) and so you tend to maybe have larger coveys, bad because you are concentrating quail for predators. That being said, do what you normally should do. Habitat work, control predators and if you do get a huntable population don't shoot down your coveys to nothing. |
