swift scopes
      #443063 - 06/17/08 06:38 PM

I am in the market for a new scope for my 22-250. I have seen some positive reviews on Swift Scopes, but do not know anything about them. Any info. would be helpful, my other rifles have Nikon Monarch on them but was looking to save a few dollars on this scope for my varmint rifle.

A recent magazine I bought gave the swift awful reviews. Answer me this; What are you hunting? Do you shoot at night? What power?

we've got a nikon buckmaster 3-9 marked down to 150 at the forest academy, might be a little lite on the zoom you're looking for but good quality for sure.

Scott if it is the silver one I have it, it is very clear for the money and I was going to mention that to this guy.

Brother in law I will be hunting both night and day. Just got back from Artesian Wells on a hog hunt, and plan on going back soon. I would like to take this gun and call in some coyotes and bobcats. I was thinking about 6x18x50.

If you are going to be hunting at night for the most part I would not recomend the higher power scope! The higher the power the less light it will let in and obviously you need all the light you can get at night!

Most of my night hunting is done with a 3X9!

If your night hunting will be done with a spot light then you dont have to worry about it as much!

There was a full moon when we were hog hunting, you could see down the senderos about 200 yards without a light. The Monarchs brought in alot of light which allowed me to take 2 hogs. But that said we will be hunting with spot lights also.

I have about four swift scopes, and if it were me and I didn't have the extra funds for a varix2 or better, then the swift will be a good alternative. Now as far as which model I would reccomend it would be model# 687m it is a 4.5*14*44 with the mildot. I have this scope mounted on an Remington ADL 22-250 and I will put this gun up againist anyone elses on accuracy shooting the cheapo 45 grain hollow point winchesters in the 40 cnt. box. This gun will consistently place 3 rounds touching at a 100 yds. I will shoot atleast five boxes a year and love this gun and scope. If however you are stuck on a higher power scope I do have a swift 6*24*50 I will sell because it is to big and to much magnification for me. This scope has been on my 204 for about 20 rounds, and I do have the box and these scopes have a lifetime warranty no hassle exchange. If you have any more questions shoot me a pm, as far as varmint hunting my 22-250 rig is all I use and I would bet I hunt more varmints than most.

What he said. I use a couple 4x14 and a 4x16, I never turn any of them up past 7 power when I shoot, at night especially I shoot on like 5. Good luck , its sounds like cattle 69 knows about his scopes so there you go.

I own one too and I wont own another one. I have a 6X18 and I can't turn it all the way up because you can't focus it in. Maybe just a bad scope??
