How many people believe we are in the end times or about to begin the end times?

Most assuredly, according to the Bible. The calendar of events listed in the Bible have already come to pass but.......no man knoweth the hour or the day!! In other words you better have your bags packed!!

I don't know but I try to live each day as if it is MY last one.
I believe the Bible (as Cool Hand has said )that "no man knoweth the hour or the day..." God will do things in His time and it won't help us to worry about it. We just need to be ready.
I do think a lot of people have made a lot of money from preaching that the end is near. ( e.g. Hal Lindsey and "The Late Great Planet Earth" -over 30 years now!)
All I know is people have been looking for Christ's return since the day he left.

We began the end of times the exact moment everything came into existence. Just as we all started dying the moment we were born. The end of times argument is just another example of wasted brain activity.

Well I don't know the hour but I have a hard time living each day as if it were my last. I feel as though I have a lot to do and change. I made my choice a long time ago and I try and live my life for the Lord but find I am still a work in progress. I know it is not our deeds by which we are saved but there are many things that I think of doing but don't always follow through.

Couldn't have said it better Ralph. My grandmother was always lookig for His return and so was my mother. Mother said we should live every day like it was our last also and the Lord took her at age 45. I wish I were there with her but we'll all get to see our love ones again one fine day!!

Brady, God didn't say it was going to be easy. But there are rewards. As the old saying goes: The fringe benifits are out of this world!!!! I'm also priviledged to know that I'm afflicted with wasted brain activity. I love it!!!!

That's kind of where I'm going with this. You have the rapture debate (pre, mid, post). You have the seal, trumpet and bowl judgements. Where does all of this fall into the timeline? We know the anti-christ hasn't come into power so the final seven years haven't begun. I'm fascinated by the subject and I've read many books. I'm just not sure how it all fits together yet.

I live everyday as if it was my last.
If your question is or was based on Geological principles, then NO, unless there is an asteroid out there with our name on it headed this way.
If your question is or was based on human dominance over the planet, than the answer is maybe, especially with the economical and political instability that is continueing to grow world wide.
Primitive Hunter had the best answer I believe, we begin our Death March with our first breath.
People need to be more concerned with the fact that this planet and its resources was probably never meant to provide life for almost 7 BILLION people.
Even with the possible deaths of 50,000 people in China from the recent earthquake, the birth rate world wide is almost 400,000 humans.
There are more things happening that will bring an end to life as we know it in the U.S., than the rapture, or everything that is happening, may be the rapture. JMO.

As it was written previously, the end times have been ticking away for a long, long time. Today we have one less day than we did yesterday. The end is now one day closer, whenever the end might be.

I realize that with each passing day we grow closer and closer to the end of time; not what I was getting at. I guess my question could've been stated a little more clear. How bout this: Are we living in what the Bible describes as the last days?

I was watching a History Chanel show the other day called "Clash of the Cavemen." I think they dated modern man back to something like 190,000 years ago.
I believe in science, but I also believe in God. I think we are are constantly discovering the way God created the universe. Science is not disproving God's existence, we are simply starting to understand some of the very simple stuff related to the way our world and universe was created.
We've been kicking around on this rock an awful long time. There's nothing that leads me to believe the end is near, but I do believe it's time from some radical changes in the way we live.

Get the book that Ralph suggested. "The Late Great Planet Earth". By Hal Lindsey. It will cronologicly place everything in order for you. Trying to explain it here on the forum will just cause indifference from some.

I know the chronology of the events I just haven't decided which belief I want to follow (pre-trib, mid-trib or post-trib). Some also believe that some of the judgements happen concurrently while others don't. Depending on when you believe the rapture will happen changes the timeline as well. Also, if you believe in a mid-trib or post-trib rapture it means that believers will be here to witness the first 42 months or suffer through the final seven years. These are some of the questions I'm trying to answer. I've read different points of view on these but I just haven't decided which one makes the most sense to me according to the Bible.

I didn't recommend the book.
I said Hal Lindsey wrote that book over 30 years ago and in my opinion, has enjoyed a career in the interpretation of prophesy based on that book and his subsequent work on the subject.
I was saying that there has been and will continue to be a lot of speculation and I for one do not know the answer nor am I willing to guess.

According to the way I interpret the rapture the first 3 1/2 years will be peaceful and the anti-Christ will have everything going his way. Yes, those that haven't taken the step of faith will be left behind and given another chance to come to Christ. There are several volumes in the "Left Behind" series that deal with the rapture. During this first period of the Great Tribulation some will be executed for their new found belief and you won't be able to buy, sell, or trade on the open market without the mark of the beast. (666)The last 3 1/2 years will be utter chaos and mass destruction. You and I as believers will not have to endure this Tribulation. After the Great Tribulation is when all hell breaks loose, literally, and Satan is fee to run rampid for a time and then he'll be cast into the lake of fire along with all the non-believers or the one whose name is not written in the book of life!! Here again, this is how I believe it will occur. I attended Dallas Theological Seminary for a short time and took some lay courses that dealt with Revelations.

I'll have to buy the book. Doesn't the left behind series promote pre-trib rapture?

i will have to check that book out, as they say the writing is on the wall. but i don't live in fear of it but it is going to happen one day. remember back in 88 when that group said the world was going to end at 5 in the afternoon. i remember it well because we had football practice that day and at the age of 14 we were all like that's crazy you know. until we stepped out on that field and it got to be around 4:30 or somthing and up until then it was real sunny outside, then all of a sudden these dark clouds rolled in and it got real dark. we stopped practicing and were looking up at the clouds and honestly the hair was standing up on my arms. the head coach told us to get back to practice or we would be wishing the world was ending. anyways with everything going on right now in the world it is kind of unsettling. but isn't there supposed to be 7 years of peace and prosperity (depending on what you consider peace) and the anti christ will be exposed and a huge battle with armored charriots and the 7 headed beast. and i've read the books on how they compare the tanks to the armored chariots, and the apache helicopters as the locusts and so on. the whole thing with the anti-christ being accepted as the second coming or a great prophet is the one that will really set things in motion i guess. and my luck it will happen during deer season.
