Haha, thank you. Sneaky told me you're a man in charge 'round here. I'm afraid you're the victim of some sort of misinformation. Mr. Sneaky is Camp Commandant and Guide Extraordinaire. The only thing I'm in charge of is the whiskey and cigars and the disbursal thereof. You can be in charge of soufflés at supper. Apparently, cappuccino and crepes will be frowned upon during this particular expedition. The jury's still out on the foie gras.

I have no problem with being in charge of a nice meal. I think I can help with that whiskey & cigar task ya got on your hands too. I'm good at that kinda stuff.

You can get with ErathKid on the cooking. That's one thing nobody wants me to handle. I'll bring food, but I ain't much of a cook.

He's probably a better cook than I am. I mean, I can cook no big deal, and I'm even better at picking out the good food for guys like us.
I'm an eater, I don't know about y'all.

Well, got my application in, so at least I will get a preference point, then see how this season plays out. Plus, wanted to bump the thread so Sneaky could find it

Stared at a map of the area again today... can't wait Yes, the maps are great, Google maps or satellite imaging is good, but really can be deceiving in a way. Looks much better when you have your boots on the ground.

LOL, that looks almost at tree line, from the mountains in the background. That photo doesn't look to bad, the trail getting there was probably a biatch.

That's just in to good of shape!! You got that right! I have actually used a mountain bike to hunt in a foot or horseback only area once though. Actually worked pretty good, but trickier than just out riding a bike.

I.d take a horse in a minute too, but the bike was free!! A horse is a blast if for no other reason than nostalgia!! As long as my "hoss" is flagged twice as much as a railroad crossing, I'm good!

On horse back you can cover a lot of country. Have camped at 6k and leave at day light or before and be at 8k pretty quick where if your on foot it takes a while plus have packed out a whole deer and it sure makes it easier.Thought we might have a rodeo but covered the horses eyes with a shirt and loaded him over the covered saddle ( 3 guys ) with his head faced forward and tied down real good. Horse just looked around and no problem at all,not saying all horses would react like this one. I loved hunting horseback but found places that I didn't know that could get sore for the first couple of days.

Back in the early 1900's people called the bicycle that. I thought it was some sort of pack dinosaur. Thought that might be pretty handy. Now, biking with a 40lb pack on sounds a little top-heavy to me. I'd be sailing over those handlebars in no time.
