I would like to know about any varmint hunts anyone knows of for the 2009-2010 year.

Their are several posting on other predator forums of contest around the state we always hunt the West Texas Big Bobcat contest and the first one of the year is Oct 17 in San Angelo.

There is always one put on by Oasis Outback (outfitter store) in Uvalde after deer season. A lot depends on where you're located.

Gander Mountain has them. I know the one in Sherman has like, 3 a year. But to win the whole thing, you need to be in on all 3 of them.

what is the turn out on one that early in the year?
went to the last one they had this past year

Not sure about the turn out for the Oct hunt this is the first year they had one this early.But the others will draw at least 25 teams if not more last year had a great turn out.And we acutally won it for a change. Also I think the way the rules our that it makes things pretty sporty considering the 5 greys or 5 coyotes plus your cat. Some guys have showed up with 5 cats and only 3 greys so they couldnt way in its really a great challenge!!
