Slip on feeder lid

I have a slip on feeder lid, hangs down maybe 10". It's suppose to be wind/ rain proof. I got it at a hunting show several years ago and can't remember the name of the thing. If anyone knows what I am talking about, or where I can find another one, would you let me know?!?

Cabela's has them and Bass Pro should. Also you can do a search for Monarch feeders, they have them too.

Try the stainless steel 4" lids at Boss Buck. They're awesome, and no way rain gets in your barrel. Plus, they don't rust, and you don't have to worry about messing with latches.

I just happened to find that an old plastic garbage can lid worked great on my 30-gal barrel feeder. Being plastic, it gave a snug, Tupper Ware type fit.

check out some feed stores.. every once in a while you can come across what you are looking for at a good price. I've got a cpl of them that are galvanized that work great.

Lids for 55 gal. barrells - know a sheetmetal guy that has 20 made up out of 18 gauage metal.15.00 each. Rub down with veiniger and paint.

Why pay $15 when you have to do some work? Right now at Boss Buck, they're on sale for $22 or $23. Located outside of Dallas in Seagoville.

I havent seen any as stout as these 18ga. is pretty good and 15.00 other than the 22.00 or 23.00 you say.If you are going to make your own feeder you probally gonna paint it anyway.Thats not work to rub down and spray it.

If the lid is galvanized, no need to paint it. Galvanized is galvanized and won't rust.

Those big black rubber round feed troughs work really well and they actually create a seal.
We figured that out after I shredded our metal cover.

Cabela's has great lids. Galvanized, but kept on with springs, even while filling the feeder, plus the springs keep the wind from blowing them off.

We use the galvanized lids from Boss Buck, they work great but be sure to put a heavy rock on top. We had several blow off at our Kent county lease before we started weighing them down.

The boss buck covers tend to blow off. I think you probaly bought the Monarch barrel covers that are deeper and stay on better. They sell a ton of these at the local hunting show. See their site http://www.deerfeeder.com/covers.htm

I bought 2 of the Boss Buck ones. I filled my feeder with a couple hundred pounds of corn, came back in the morning after a storm rolled through to find the lid 75 feet from the feeder with 2 inches of water in it.
I've since drilled holes in the sides and bungee corded them down. No problems since.

Smart thinking but you might want to consider changing those bungee cords to some type of springs. My experience has shown that bungees don't fair to well being stretch in the hot sun.
