Can someone please tell me if it's good mule deer hunting around Turkey TX. And is it only Mulies or do they have WT as well?
Any info would be great. I've never been in that area.

There is both mule deer and whitetail deer in the Turkey area. I hunted Turkey for four years now and we have killed some good deer off our place. The quail and hog hunting is also good.

They have a mix. It'll depend on the Ranches terrain as much as anything else. In that part of the country, you'll have cedar breaks and small canyons that the Muley's call home. The hardwood river and creek bottoms, and adjoining mesquite pastures, are White tail territory. Food plots located near both these types of cover will draw both. Look for a place that has a history of planting winter wheat....

Thanks Guys.
One of my ranchers buddies is going to lease his 2500 acres and he said it had mule deer on it.
I've never been down there or in that area. They said it had mesquite flats with canyons and 2 wheat fields.
I have no idea how much or if it has a bunk house or any of that stuff but about what does leases go for in that area that are this size?
Thanks again

Lease prices are hard to judge so far this year. I'm seeing an average of $10-12 an acre. Mesquite flats can be so-so hunting in that neck of the woods, but the wheat sounds promising. Water will be the key to good hunting. Make sure you understand how many ponds/windmills/tanks are wet year round.

I hunted a little south of there for a year. It was an awesome lease. Tons of wildlife of all species. I wish it had more WT. There were actually to many mule deer! Literaly a hundred in the wheat field at evening time.

B Switalski. My rancher from Shamrock called me and told me about his buddy wanting to lease this place around Turkey. I don't know what I can do with it but I'm going to go look at it on July 10. I would love a place with mule deer.
Thanks for all the info guys.
See you in December B-Switalksi

I have two places in Turkey, the one North of town is 90% Mulies and the one South of town is 90% WT. The hunting can be really good. We have killed two big deer in four years up there. Cant wait for this year!
