I havent ever blasted ducks while Bass fishing, but I have been tempted from time to time to carry a shotgun with me for that purpose!

The other problem is once you shoot a duck it is gone. Most of the Bass fishermen are catch and release so what's the big deal if you tell a buddy where you caught a monster?

As a fisherman there is nothing worse that some idiot busting up the water on a jetski while your fishing. Sure its legal and he has just as much right to the lake as you do, sometimes they even break out a pole and wet a line. But seriously WTF!

Samething as a boat trolling around a cove fishing and "taking pot shots" at ducks where hunters are in their blinds.

With near 30 years of hunting DFW public lakes I disagree with that statement. The kind of hunter that runs out to a lake to hunt because he read a lake name on a forum is no threat to me and in fact can sometimes help my hunting because I figure pressure into my scouting same as I would the weather or lake level. If you hunt a lake where you have to arrive at a spot at 2:00am to shine people away, your going to have to shine people off that spot no matter what.


I actually did a teal hunt one time where I kayaked onto a flat. Covered up my kayak and hunted from a blanket blind. I was completely hidden with a perfect decoy set up.
In visible distance I watched a bass boat pull up pedesal seats up. Guys pulled up to the flat and drift in to a stop. Through out decoys just in range of the boat and sat on the pedestal seats. They were not wearing camo. I limited within a few minutes at legal time. As I was picking up decoys I am certain they limited in a few minutes time also. I saw teal fly their way twice. A few quick shots and they where on their way before I was.

Realistically whoever thinks that you can kill ducks from a bass boat while fishing is morose anyway.

Plus, a bass boat can't go back in the shallow water anyway.

I'm a bass fisherman and a duck hunter and the two don't mix.

The closest I have come to this scenario is hunting pintails on the coast with a couple rods out for reds, hundreds of yards away.

Here is what I dont get.... If I catch it... I will eat it...if I kill it, I will eat it... TFF = vertical smile!

By the way, bass fishing sucks in December.

They are cold blooded so they move into deep water (where it is actually warmer during the winter) and hug up to a log. The best way to catch them is on a jig or a spoon while fishing painfully slow.

I'm on public lakes all the time during the winter and hardly ever see anyone fishing.

that is moose, unless u go to a power plant lake with really warm water.... but u cant duck hunt, so it doesnt really apply here..... but u can catch fish in the winter...fish the bottom with a big ole beaver or lizard or something like that. thats what i like to do anyway. or like u said, a good jig!
