Hey I inherited my grand fathers old rifles. There Remington 700's he bought in the early 60's they don't have a recoil pad or swivels for a sling. Is this a gunsmith job?

It shouldn't be. You may find a custom fit one, or get one that you trim to fit. Both are pretty easy. 2 wood screws hold it in, not a tough job at all.

noooooooooooooooooooooooooo don't trim the wooden stock. Trim the recoil pad itself.

swivles for the sling are just as easy. Mark your holes, and put tape over the area to be drilled. Make sure you have the right bit for this. Then just screw in the swivels.
