Deckhand brought his new pup by the house to meet her future hunting mates.

Even checked out the rat dog

I think the team approves of this new addition up

Great looking pup Lee, look forward to working with her this year

bang I tossed a bumper this morning and she just looked at me like "now what?". She better get it figured out quick or she will be relocated to another house anywhere but here.

Is she a lab or golden or mix? I don't raise or have owned a lab pup so I'm not sure what they should look like.

You can't put all dogs on a schedule. (Ex. ff by 6mo., CC by 8 mo. etc....) They're not all naturals..... Sometime you have to build the schedule around the dog. My pup Dutch is the perfect example. He was "washed out" of the field trial game because he was a "slow learner". He consistently dropped birds, couldn't be force fetched, and could not run blinds further then 100yds.

I decided to take a chance and make it FUN!!! Now, 2 mo. later and at just over a year old, Dutch hasn't dropped a bird in over a month, fetches on command (w/o force), and can runs blinds out to 250yds+ like a streak of lighting. All without the use of an e-collar I might add.

Try and be patient. Like everything else, you'll get out of it what you put into it. Good luck!!!!

I know dogs are just like people. Some catch on faster than others. Just because it takes 6 mon. longer to understand does not mean she can not become a very serviceable hunting partner. I know I am a hard arse about hunting dogs. I have to gain the trust and respect of the dog to ever get 100% effort/ability out of her. My last lab just was not understanding what was going on in the field till I dropped a dove in the cattails in a tank and she heard it flap around in the water. At that moment the light flashed on high beams. She never missed a water retrieve in her short life after that.

Got it done. Her name is Amber Sue. In the field it will officially be Sue. Other variations may arise based on dogs ability to obey commands.
