I would think you've heard wrong...
Easy enough with a 150gr 30-06, but just as easy with a 55gr 22-250.

I never got the Black Buck "Buck" but did get a doe,spot stalk with a bow and man was it hard....they are sharp eyed and always on the look out! I turned the entire thing into some excellent jerky!
