New shotgun for turkey season

New shotgun for turkey season - 03/27/24 07:07 PM

When turkey season ended last spring, I decided to make a change. I purchased a Rossi Tuffy .410 turkey shotgun shortly after last springs season ended. I decided I wanted a bit more of a challenge. The shotgun itself was cheap, only $189.00. The Fed TSS #7 shot was was jaw dropping in price. I purchased two boxes with five rounds per box for $39.95 a box. What the heck I said. The gun weighs 3.1 lbs. It will be super lite to carry while hunting. I'll limit my shots to 35 yards max. Some say I'm good to 40 yards with the TSS shot. The gun itself is ambidextrous, each side of the butt stock will hold 4 rounds, though I doubt I'll use them.

Going to be a fun spring chasing Tom!

That's a really cool little shotgun. Never seen one like it before. Good luck

My son uses the 510 Mini Super Bantam in .410..........killer out to 40 yards no problem with 15/16oz of TSS # 9.5's. So far, he's 3 for 3 with it. I know it's a dream to carry as light as it is.

Reload and you won't quite the sticker shock on the TSS loads. up

I just looked up the Mossberg mini 510. Nice looking gun! I wish I reloaded it would be easier. I bought a box of #9's to use for around the ranch on snakes.

Ammo price is almost irrelevant for turkeys. A box can last you years if you make your shots count. I have still have some of the 5 boxes that my FIL gave me 15 years ago.

True statement. I'm still working on a box of 12 ga #4's from the 90's. I think I even have some of the old Remington duplex #4 & 6's.

I don't have a rossi. I have 2 Mossberg 410's. The turkey models in 500 410. And the SA 410. Both have Indian Creek. 385 chokes. Apex ninja 9.5 tss. Both have reflex reddots. Went from a Rem sp 10ga to a 410.

Very nice! I checked Indian Creek, no scope tubes for Rossi's 410's.
