Out at our place near brownwood when I was 15 (9 years ago) we used to see them in droves. like 40-50 together crossing an old dirt road. about 2 years ago we didnt see any at all but now I have seen about 10 the last 2 trips and last year we saw a decent amount. I heard it could be some of the pigs out there getting them?
I have found at my ranch in Coryell County that the raccoons an o'possums were the culprits hitting my turkey nests. My buddy and I starting shooting coons and lowering the numbers around the ranch and two years later the turkey population has flourished beyond belief. I have turkey everywhere now. I also have the Duke Dog Proof traps that I set everytime I am at the ranch and the traps now keep the numbers down. Proof is in my game cam pics. I use to see 10 to 15 coons at the feeder every night and now I never see a coon hitting my protein feeders or my corn feeders. Something to think about and I am sure the hogs destroy nests but at my place I think it was the coons mostly. Good luck with getting your turkey population back where it needs to be!!!
