You will need to scout like you do deer. They need cover prefer hardwood stands, they need water and food. You have to be very observant and quiet. They have an amazing field of vision. Try to fine the roost areas late in the evening. Good Luck

early morning the turkeys will often be talkative on the roost, if there are a few together. Like Ed said find the roost if you can. You did not say where the lease is. If talking east TX the roost is more likely where ever they are at flyup time, if there is a place easterns can roost in large trees over standing water that can influence a roost location. Rios most often will roost along creeks but then that is where the larger trees are. Those are generalizations of course and not rules

try a loud shock call to see if the old tom will call back then follow his sound to the roost, this works best at dawn and just before dark

thanks for the advice guys, keep it comin if you got more. The lease is in temple tx, kinda east central tx. Im pretty sure there is only 1 constant source of water on the lease, which is a pond, other than that there is really only water in the creeks for a about a week after it rains.

is something like this what i need to use to find the roost? call
