Roost them one evening. Before it gets to dark walk through the roost. Try and make every turkey fly off. Go back the next morning. Setup close to where they all flew to. Shoot the first one that come in.

My experience with the "hard to call" Tom is to call less and call softer once you have had one gobble multiple times that is reluctant to show itself. Typically you'll have one go back and forth in your area, but just won't commit to coming in. In situations like that I would stop calling for a bit, change calls, and go with a sequence of soft calls and purrs...and then maybe really soft yelps. I went through the same ordeal this past Sunday and it took going through three different calls, spacing call sequences, and really softening calls. Basically, I started soft calling because that's what the hens around me were doing, so I just tried to do what they were doing and it finally brought out a hen with a Tom in tow.

Sometimes less is more.

DUDE. You ain't right. I'm my mind I'm picturing Richard Simmons tiptoeing around in those striped shorts saying "here turkey turkey.

That pic is very "Village People"... too funny.

Seriously, though, I had a group circling me this past weekend, and soft yelps with a box call, mixed with a few purrs (with a push box call) finally did the trick. Had a hen and Jake decoy out (no mustache though). Same as was mentioned above... it worked for me.

loco_too

I believe the soft calling may help but SM is right either the damn things are stupid or we are. Most day I think it is just me and those gay birds are over in the woods laughing at me.

Awwww hell TX Case73 had to go and get all serious……Professor Rio Grande on us! LOL grin From the stand point of the original jest of this thread, TX Case73 is dead on with his analysis in that soft stuff is usually the best in that situation (and I posted on his thread the other day as such)…but….it’s turkey hunting and I’ve had birds continue to skirt me while giving them the soft, coy stuff. When they got out of site I gave them a hard cut and they were in my lap in about 60 seconds….I’ve done the same thing and they continued on their merry way! I love our sport boys! It’s not us….it’s the bird!

Hell yote killer, don't worry about calling, just get in there tight on them at their roost and uncork one of those 65 yard bombs you talked about over in the "How long is too long" thread when they fly down! laugh

Good luck getting one in the freezer.

Cheers!

cheers

That picture is the Freddie Mercury of turkey. Reminds me of a scene from police academy, but only with a, well, you know, a turkey.

Yes this is my video from two years ago and I was as suprised as you will be. Keep any comments squeeky clean.

On your turkeys. Soft purrs and yelps with long pauses between sets have worked for me for silent, usually mid day Turkeys when I have been able to keep my patience, believe they will come in, and stay with it.

They're probably skeered of getting their butts whupped. Never seen 5 of them skeered before though.
