Took another young man out for his first hog hunt tonight. As usual we went to the range for a short course on shooting. Then we tried to find a hog during the day, no luck. After dark the first field we checked had a group of hogs in it. AS we got in range they spooked, not really sure why. He got on the big spotted sow and dropped her. Half of the hogs went to our right and the other half to our left. He got on a boar to the left and dropped him. We then spun around to the right and he dropped and sow, had to put another round in her to keep her down. We had a group in another field but they heard or saw something they didn’t like before we were in range. The next place had about 200 head of new steers on it. As we got close to them I spotted a hog in the mix. WE eased in a bit closer to clear out some of the cattle and Sean dropped him with one shot. HE was huge, easily pushing the 300 mark! We had a heck of a time getting him loaded, one end at a time! Man I love it when these kids pay attention and shoot good!
