I do....it works great. Depending on your glass you can make shots to 300 yrds. I have the green light and if you start high and bring it down on them it doesn't spook them at all.

They are perfect for hunting, I own and sell them here. You can see pass 100 yards with a good scope and with better scope u can see 200 yards and more. You won't be disappointed

Re: xl250 kill light - 07/04/13 03:28 AM

I have one and am fairly happy with it. I don't know about 300 yards but 200 is doable. I used mine tonight with a Nightforce 5.5-22x and could see well enough to take a clean shot to about 230 yards. I could make out our cows at 300-ish but would not be comfortable taking a shot on a pig with the visibility I had at that distance.

Use mine with the green light all the time, great for solo trips

Several raccoons wished I did not have one last night.

......another option with, IMHO, better mounts included: http://www.varmintlights.com/vrl-1-ultimate-package/

I own both the XLR-250 and the VRL-1.

I have one and love it. 200 yards no problem with the green and an easy 150 yards with the red.

Go for it!

It is great, you may want to buy a kill light to put under a feeder they both are great.

Re: xl250 kill light - 07/07/13 04:12 AM

same company makes the light for under feeder, that would be good to

Re: xl250 kill light - 07/12/13 06:04 PM

Nobody is going to fess up and admit that a gun mounted light is going to spook some hogs. From my experience a gun mounted light will spook hogs about 50% of the time. Feeder lights dont seem to spook hogs at all (no practical way to control for the ones the refuse to show up). I would have to guess the hogs see the feeder light and the gun mounted light but the differences would be hog perceived motion from the hunter moving the gun and a light shining right into their eyes vs. a stationary overhead light on the feeder. Feeder light is WAY more effective, use two or more for longer ranges.

Re: xl250 kill light - 07/12/13 07:46 PM

for light mounts, you just need a 1" ring...can even use scope rings on them. If you order from lightmalls, you'll need batteries and charger and the mount. If you want the barrel mount, i've seen them on amazon and ebay.

I use a gun light and feeder light. best of both worlds!

Re: xl250 kill light - 07/13/13 03:31 AM

The pig in the picture I posted burst out the area when we hit him with the light.

We left the light on the feeder and about 15 minutes later he adjusted to the light and came out to eat again. Big mistake.

Re: xl250 kill light - 07/13/13 07:14 PM

Works great. I use my on the gun, the same way I do on my bow. I point the light to the sky, turn it on, and slowly bring it down on the target. Doesn't seem to spook the hogs or varmints.

GR-I would hope you had one of your own lights? You bought it?? Maybe your board name confused me?

Re: xl250 kill light - 08/05/13 04:27 PM

I would recommend the three mode light. Then you will have all ranges covered. I have one and it did spook the hogs at close range, until I changed to the three mode and now no problem spooking the hogs.

I've got 3 of them, can't say enough good about them.
Awesome lights!

Re: xl250 kill light - 08/15/13 01:09 PM

I have a couple of the red ones, and I'm very happy with them. Wish I had a green one though.

The really good news for me is that prior to having these lights, I had a Primos light on my rifle. It was big and clunky, with a heavy battery I had to carry on my belt. Not a good setup at all. Now life is good. This is a giant improvement over what I had.

The Primos light is now for sale and I'll sell it for free. You just have to come get it.

Re: xl250 kill light - 08/15/13 01:35 PM

I use the Stik N Shoot magnetic light system. I like not having to mount it on the scope. And it has no effect on ballistics based on all the testing.

And yes, some pigs will run or walk away. In ET, I was hunting hogs that have never seen a feeder. Dropped the light down on a little one and he took off fast.

I use green and really like it.

I have the green one and it works great. I mounted it to my AR and have stalked into groups of hogs and it never spooked them at all.

no problem within 100 yards great clarity, and plenty of light to see the whole animal thru the scope I love mine

x2 I also have the 100 tard model as back up, when I am hunting in a stand I either use a kill light or take a purce of window screen to dim the 250 a little bit. I do not know if it matters but I like the precaution.
