Approaching the century mark "coyotes" - 12/13/12 07:58 PM

Guys and gals, this is shaping up to be a banner year for the entire Carnivore team. It was only a few years back that myself and Jared started actually keeping track of the number of coyotes and bobcats we take each season and I think this years numbers may surpass both of our expectations. Prior to the start of this years hunting season we set a goal of killing and filming over 100 coyotes this year for Carnivore and it appears we may reach it before Christmas. We have been truly blessed to have the opportunity to do what we do and do and are proud to be able to share our hunts with the public so they can enjoy them as we did. We are also proud to be able to set goals for ourselves and to be able to obtain those goals. Here are a few video stills from a few of our latest hunts.

It has been an action packed season that everyone should get a chance to see. The coyotes have been responding better than we can recall in years past and most "haven't" been camera shy.

We took this big male last night after he got done putting on a show.

Our buddy Gary Bennet made one heck of a shot on this coyote as he was so far from the truck. He didn't even need his predator eradicating glasses (P.E.G's) to see this one in the scope at 13 yards!

Finally, we can't forget about the bobcats. This was a big female (big for around here) that came to our call along with another bobcat. She elected to be the first one of the pair to make the mistake of getting too close to the chevy while the other remained behind to wait on an easy meal soon to return with his partner (so he thought)! Unfortunately, things did not work out quite as planned for the two lovers as one of them hit the dirt, the other decided to climb a 50 ft oak tree in remembrance of his fallen companion, only to take a hit from a Hornady 22-250 V-max and hit a branch on his way to the ground where he finally rest in peace. Nevertheless, all of this wildness will be shown on season 3 of Carnivore as it was all caught on camera for the world to see.

The first of the two made it to about 18 yards from the truck but the highlight of this stand was seeing a full-grown bobcat perched up in a tree like a Christmas turkey.

All together, the coyotes shown in this post make number 86,87,88 for the season and there are several trips planned in the near future so we will keep you guys posted once we hit our goal.

Take care. Chris

What do you do with all of the coyotes you kill?

We skin quite a few of them if the fur is prime, but if they get messed up or the fur isn't that great they go in the death pile!
