coyote hunting

im going coyote hunting in denver city tx tomorrow but was wondering how long do i call for, when do i start/stop calling, etc??? need advice since it will be my first time predator hunting! thanks

Best advice is to go with someone that knows what they are doing. Not trying to sound like a smart arse at all, but headed out there and not knowing what to do or how to do it will just educate yotes.

i bought an electronic call, will that be of any help??

some guys let the call play continuously and some guys let it play for 5-15 minutes then stop for a little bit, then start again. I have done it both ways and had success. I usually stay at a spot about 30-45 minutes depending on how much activity I am seeing. Just have fun with it! You will learn things tomorrow that will help you the next time you go.

Just like any other form of hunting, there is a learning curve in predator calling. But, it can be shortened greatly by learning from someone who already knows. My advice if you decide to go it alone is to gather as much land access as possible in the beginning, because you are going to make some pretty big errors in the beginning and those errors are going to ruin spots for a little while.

if you get there before daylight try and howl or a locator call to figure out where they are at. Then if they answere back try to get as close to general area they are in. you can't call them if they aint there. Be very quiet going in, walk as far as you have to, don't slam your truck door. get in their living room and start calling. Sounds is something you have to figure out. What works there today may not work here. But the biggest is knowing where they are. You can't call them in if they ain't there. This will save you alot of time sitting. When I call i do it 3 min of calling 3 times. after you get done sit there 10 min. You will be surprised what wonders in. It works more than you think but give them time to get there.

Are you calling during the day or night. I leave the call on the whole time, start off quiet and gradually raise the volume further into the stand. If you are hunting at night use the light before you start to call until you are finished. I never turn the light off. The light is you camo, as if you are behind the light they will not see you and you can't see them if the lights off. We normally go 20-30 min on a stand.

Could possibly take ya out sometime and show ya the ropes if ya got somewhere to go and are close. All my lands locked up till after deer season so can't go on it.
