Has anyone hunted Black Gap, or the Chap this year. I am trying to get one last hunt in, and was wondering what the birds looked like this year. Any help would be appreciated.

Saw a report from TPWD Small Game newsletter that it was tough everywhere on public but that Black Gap was the shiniest spot. Still not great but something like 2.3 birds per hunter per day versus in the mid to low under 1, ex .3, birds per hunter per day most everywhere else. Had me thinking about heading out there. A few years ago I went out there towards the end of the season with a puppy and did okay, couldn't hit much with that new side by side I hadn't adjusted to yet, but had a great hunt. 100,000 acres and I was the only quail hunter in the register!
Two covies found and one bird taken is a successful hunt at the Chap.

I'm just happy to get into birds. I usually find them, but don't hit them.

Over under 20 gauge with one ounce of lead. I don't miss.

That is my problem. My barrels were put on sideways.
