Pheasant Hunting in SD Rookie - 10/27/14 04:55 PM
I have never been pheasant hunting and I helped plan a trip to SD for a buddies pre-bachelor party. I was wondering if anyone could tell me what shells would be best to use while hunting. I have had a few people tell me different things so I figured Id be the rookie and put it out on the forum and get some feed back. I'll be shooting Benelli Super Vinci 12 gauge so whatever recommendations you may have, feel free to drop them here.

Are you hunting public or private? A bunch of the public land requires non toxic shot.

I just got back from hunting S.D. The Federal #5 will be just fine. I used Prarie Storm. Good luck. Are you hunting planted birds or wild birds?

I have shot plenty of pheasant with the Rio Texas game load #6 and they all hit the ground dead!
I think they were $8 a box at Academy.
You really dont need to spend $20 a box for shells
