I duck hunt in kaufman county and we don't see many green heads, just mostly widgens and red heads. Would it still be okay to put out green head decoys?

I would say use what you have. Maybe just use the hen mallards.

Match the hatch. that's the rule to follow.

I've killed just about everything over mallards. It won't hurt anything. If you think about it, the mallard hen is the sound most of us are making so it only makes sense to have some in the spread.

My first season all I had were mallards. Killed plenty of birds over them.

If I match the hatch this week, then I should be fishing.
