Stoeger 2000 vs. SBE II

Stoeger 2000 vs. SBE II - 09/30/09 02:41 AM

To piggy back on the other gun advice topic, I've toyed around the idea of getting an inertia gun, just to see if I like one. I know the Stoeger 2000 is a 3" and has the Benelli interia system in it, but what makes the SBE II so much different, besides the 3.5 in capablity, to warrent a $1100 more price tag?

Are the inertia systems different? The quality of components? Can someone give me a breakdown? Thanks.

my 2 cents go with the sbe2, you will love it... It will also hold its value.

Guess I've been fortunate with my M2000. GOing on my 4th season with it. up

If I hadn't of had to buy 3 other guns for my wife and kids to shoot, I would have gone with the SBE just because of the good reviews, but as it is, I'm happy with my M2k...

I've had them both, the stoger and the SBE II and i liked them both... Had some jamming problems with the stoger with 3 inch shells during really cold weather, but that could have been the cleaner i had been using gumming up but other than that no problem out of the stoger but once i got the SBEII, there was no comparison, the SBEII is just an all around solid, high quality gun... I love the inertia system, super easy to take apart and clean, high quality parts, just an awesome gun.... my vote SBEII

3.5 and quality control. S2K to SBE II = Rem ADL to BDL or Beretta 92 to Taurus (whatever their 9mm was)

The first time I tried to use my S2K, it was a single shot, manuel action. Do a search and you will find lots of articles about issues right out of the box. But, Benalli fixed it up FAST!

I've kicked around the idea of using some "extra" pay I received this past year to get one when I got home. But I just can't see using the 3.5 that much to justify the additional $700 to upgrade

The inertia systems on them are different for one...people have a misconception that they are the same...they arent. Stogers are cheaper and it's reflected. I like to hear it when people get M2000s and have zero problems but there are plenty of stories out there were people had to turn around and send them back when they were still new. Any gun make will have that happen from time to time but the % of M2000s that that happens to is way to high to be able to recommend one to a friend.

If you are a serious hunter then invest the money in a SBEII...you won't regret it. Otherwise you will buy a M2000 and in one year you will start talking about buying a SBEII.

Ignore price...what would yo get then and why? The extra $1000 is a lot of money but if you think about how long you will have it then it's no big deal. When you add up all the costs of hunting and break it down to a year by year cost...it's a pretty small expense.

SBE 2 I have one and I dont even touch my other guns anymore, I picked it up from a guy on here for a very reasonable price. Well worth the money IMHO.

I have a M1 super 90 (3" benelli before the M2 came out) and absolutely love it. I have never had a single issue with it and it is by far the best shotgun I have ever owned. I keep thinking maybe one of these days I will upgrade to the 3.5", but don't know that I will ever have an issue with mine now.

9 times out of 10 you get what you pay for. Have fun with your purchase. up

I have been shooting my Stoger 2000 for two years. I WOULDNT TRADE IT FOR ANY GUN THAT I'VE SEEN, SHOT, OR HEARD ABOUT. it's the best gun I could EVER hope for.

The SBE II is a great gun but you may want to consider the Browning Maxus. It's getting rave reviews. I looked at one earlier this week at Bass Pro Shop in Pearland. It feels light and points like a dream. The MO duck blind pattern looks pretty good on this gun.

Don't worry. I already have that on the shopping list and will have one very soon. I picked up and dang near bought the first Maxus that came in at the Katy Bass Pro, and you're right, that MODB looks great on that gun and it is the nicest feeling and pointing gun I've ever shouldered. I love my Browning Gold and it will have a Maxus next to it by season start. I was just looking for an inertia gun, just to have the best of both worlds. And hey, you can never have too many shotguns right?

BTW, I have a benelli cordoba 20ga and I love this gun. It's an awesome dove gun and it works great on teal too! But then again I really like all of the benelli autos especially the legacy and ultra light models!

just the maintance and cleaning alone on an inertia gun is worth it to me... quick and easy, very minimal parts to deal with
