Took till 10:00 AM though. Before shooting light had about 30 birds around the dekes, then at light it was 5 singles the rest of the way.

Is that choke a mod or what? Did you put it on paper? If so did you think the pattern was good? What are the exact BC loads you were using?

I really love those BC shells (some hate them) but the 3.5" BB loads on geese have worked really good for me. I just got a box of the #3 3" loads and shot a few last weekend and so far I like what I'm seeing but I have not put that load on paper yet.

I'm really thinking about getting one of those BC patternmasters myself. Where did you get yours and how much was it? Sorry for all the questions but I'm interested.

The choke is full. I patterned it at 30 and 40 yards. I did not count the shot, but it looked really good to me. I was shooting the 3" #2's. I bought it from their website (patternmaster.com) for $70. Basspro does not carry it and Cabelas was out. Carlson's make a medium and long range choke for BC for around $40. I was very hesitant to spend that much on a choke, after one hunt I am glad I did.
I think it made me a better shot. I had 3 birds on 4 shots to start out and I don't usually shoot that well. This is my first full season of duck hunting, so I could be improving each time out. I really do believe in the choke though, I did not have one cripple, I have never done that before. My buddy shoots a 10 guage and is a pretty good shot and I was hitting birds much farther out than he was and he had 2 cripples. Worth the extra money because I will make that up in shooting less shells.

That's cool. Man I'd have to think about it before spending $70 on a choke. What kind of shotgun you shooting with it?

A Charles Daly Auto. Check out the Carlson's, I hear good things about them.

Before I catch crap, I know the choke is worth more than the gun, but It works and I can eat!

You're shooting a full choke? Dang, I shoot LM to Modified. Even shoot a IC early season. But, I rarely shoot over 30 yards.

LuckyDucker...I shoot a mod but keep in mind when they say it's a full choke for steel that's different than a full for lead. It's pretty confusing but I'd bet that Patternmaster full is more open than my factory SBEII Full choke or even the IM. At least that's what I would think.

Man if you are killin ducks DONT CHANGE NOTHIN!

I have seen so many people get caught up in the guessing game with chokes, shot size, guns, decoys etc.

just have fun and dont overthink it, "they are just ducks"

Nah...I'll need something to buy or think about during the off season to take my mind off the ducks. But yeah you don't need much to kill ducks...I could be shooting a cheap o gun, not wearing camo, etc but I keep looking and looking for those little edges here and there...somethings help...some don't.

Marc,

Lets try to hit the range once a month to keep us occupied.

I'll be shooting skeet very regularly come off season. Garrett and I talked about even shooting in some tourneys.
