Mack's Prairie Wings

Mack's Prairie Wings - 11/25/12 12:35 PM

Went to Stuttgart, Arkansas this weekend. Just want to say thanks to all the hard working ppl who put on the duck festiville. Went to the main strret calling contest, didn't stay for the championship crowning. (the calling is for main street only). Went to MPW's and spent some money and time there, best buy was in the bargin blind. Duck hunting in Stuttgart ARK. is some of the best around. Enjoyed the time with family and friends. Not sure of what the count in the boat was but I'm sure my uncle Blaine will let me know.

I've been wanting to get there, I've always been curious about the festival and the store. I plan on ordering some duck hunting goodies from them in a couple of weeks, it will be my fists order and hopefully not my last......

I'm hoping to go to MPW someday too. I've been to the original Bass Pro Shop in Springfield, MO. That place is awesome! Now, I want to go to the original Cabela's and to MPW.

Its amazing that one store can be just geared for water fowl, and Rich-N-Tone is next door as well. They open up the bargain blind on Thanksgiving weekend, I was able to get T-shirts for 5 bucks. Kinda impressed with myself.

MPW has great customer service and makes the best waders around. Been using them online for years. I would like to see the store in person one day.

It's a great part of the world for waterfowlers. It's just nice to be in camo, and not be asked if you shot any deer.

Macks is good people. I grew up 3 hours south of there on the LA border. Never did make it to the big shindig. Always was busting ducks down south and tried to avoid anywhere close to stuttgart when all the crowds were in the timber.

Another real interesting place to visit and shop is Simmon's Sporting Goods in Bastrop, Louisiana. It is actually the biggest outdoor store in Louisiana; bigger than any of the Bass Pro stores in the state. It is due south of Stuttgart just over the Louisiana border about 20 or 30 miles and yes it is loaded with duck hunting gear, a lot more than the BPS stores............has deer hunting and fishing covered very well too.......

Mack's has grown a lot since my first trip there 20 years ago. Never been to Simmon's but it's on the list.

Now Simmons is my peoples. They were 30 min south of us. spent more money there than I care to admit. It is probably close to twice the square footage of Macks. They used to have a deal worked out in the mail order stuff. Not sure the details, but somehow they were together.

They started the mojo company, once again, not 100% sure on the details anymore, but they were th first place to carry em anywhere.

Another thing about Simmon's I can tell you is they have some of the lowest steel shot prices around and carry every brand imaginable. They are rarely ever out of any steel loads you might be interested in......You can get on their mailing list by ordering something off their website....

Just got back from my annual trip up to Stuttgart. If you've never been to the festival, I'd definitely add it to your list of things to go and do. Shoot some turf heads, listen to the contest, eat some duck gumbo, and cruise by MPW and RNT.

Doesn't get much better than that in my book.

Brad Allen is the 2012 champ, he was runner up last year, and won it in 2010.

Every time I think I'm getting pretty good with my calls, Thanksgiving rolls around and I get humbled again by my friends up there. Those delta prairie boys take that calling seriously.

So I just sit there jerking my string. Yeah, I went there...

We went to the fall festival at MPW back in August and stayed 3 days a lot of events and fun . Good deals on everything especially the bargain blind. We will go back next year also. Main reason for going was grand kids wanted to see Si from duck dynasty. We spent so much time in MPW all the Avery reps knew us and half the cashiers would say see your back. Ended up spending a lot $$ deals were to good.
