LL Bean Duck House Waterfowl Blind - 07/15/10 10:38 PM

Did a search and didnt see any prior topics on this. Anyone have one and do they like it? It got very good reviews and it has been what I have been looking for and trying to make out of PVC.

seems like alot of "things to do" to be able to shoot... and they say 15 pounds but you can double or tripple that when its wet and muddy.

I used to feel the same way about lay out blinds but I love em now... so who knows

Agree about adding weight but when hunting with two other people its hard to make a portable camo cover. Layouts arent an option with a 65yr old father with bump hips and a knee. Reviews said it was very easy setup. Two small quick release buckles hold he top down or learn to shot with top down all the time.

First time I've seen a blind like that, but I like it.

It looks like it has loops to add native stuff to the outside. I bet it will work.

Doesn't look very durable for 300 bucks.

I like it. I'd pay $150.

That's a little more realistic.

you can get a couple of bundles of fastgrass and some PVC and save about 150 bucks...

I've used a couple of haybale blinds similiar to that with good results.

I built a nice one out of PVC but thats not portable. PVC is rigid and doesnt fold up for carrying so thats what you pay 350 for. I havnt seen anything close to is on the market.

Tent stakes and some burlap/camo

I like it but $300 is crazy for what it is.

I'd pay $100.

To me they seem more trouble then they are worth, and not very flexible/versatile in how you use them. I just like to make my own blinds. On my lease, I have a bunch of evergreens, and my land owner said I can cut all I want. Cut a few braches takes no time, and with a muddy ground, setting up a blind takes no time, just stick in the mud, and it will stay green all winter...

I duck behind a branch and I’m good, all I need..

Cattle panel can also provide a little more structure, and pretty easy set-up, and easy to move. Pic below I got cattle panel in the back you cannot see. Next season I will have everygreen blinds like this all over my lease.

I think I would rather build a permanent blind or use a layout. Might be good if you were taking a child hunting and needed to stay arm's length from them.

Opening day last year I strung a camo net between two cottonwood trees and piled brush in front.

Thanks for the opinions. I wish I had a good lease to build something that didnt have to be put up and taken down every hunt. Just looking for something I can take to the hunt site setup and remove. I think I will try it out, 350.00 is high but at the same time we all pay 80.00 for 12 plastic decoys so in relevance its about the same. Hell a lot of people spend 150 on a waterfowl coat.

Layout blind is best for that. How hard is it to set up, and pack that thing? I would never buy something like that, but that is just me. If you do go with it, let us know how you like it. I just have never seen anyone really use anything like that.
