Big boar in west Texas

Big boar in west Texas - 04/20/17 12:33 AM

my friend hunted last Thursday in the downpour and was rewarded with his biggest hog to date

I've taken him on his first hog hunt last July (where he shot 150 lb with an AK-74 ) and he's hooked ever since.

I told him that big hogs don't mind the rain, love the rain and that he should hunt in the rain if possible

Well, that saying must have been etched in cerebral stem, i've never seen him missed hunting in the rain

He sat for 2 hrs in the downpour, open platform, with only a blanket covering his Tikka .308 and ATN XSight II

at dark 2145 lone boar came out circling the pen but would not enter

this went on for a while until he can't handle it anymore and lined up for a shot in the head

he was weighed on a Cabelas scale with his head still touching the ground

he's probably one of the 2 biggest hogs harvested on my place

i would like to hear some guesses on his weight, just by looking at this picture.
I inquired because I guessed wrong as well

Hard to tell based on the pics due to lack of relative scale. Having said that, he looks long and not fat so will say 250ish.

Tell ur buddy nicely done and keep at it. The baby makers need to go as much as the boars.

Cabo, you might. It remember but I won a contest back a little on here guessing sizes of hogs.... clap

In reality, I have just shot a few hogs and guess based on what I see...nothing accurate about my guesses as you can see I was still 15% off, and if I only got 85% right all the time I wouldn't be in the position I am in now, so it's not too good a guess really.

Glad you posted the answe though. Like seeing the actual based from the picture.

"West Texas" should only be saved for places west of Alpine.
