Colorado Bend SP - 09/19/22 07:10 PM

We were picked for the anterless / spike hunt Nov. 9-11. Info say 5300 acres 25 people so there must be alot of compartments. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

My son hunted there in 2015 (youth) and myself on 2018. While I don’t recall how many compartments there are, they are large and each gets about 4-5 hunters. The way it worked when we hunted was, a staff member would drive all hunters on the compartment on a TPWD truck, then it was up to the hunters to talk among themselves to select an area within the compartment. After the initial drive everyone was free to come and go in their own vehicle.
We’ll be there for the GDE youth hunt at the end of December, good luck!

That's how was when my son and daughter were selected for a youth hunt. Probably 10 years ago now.

Both killed their first bucks on that hunt, both on the same day. Good times.

They had hog panel ground blinds that were brushed with cedar limbs. They worked well enough.

OP, if they allow baiting with corn, bring plenty!

My son and I did this same hunt last year. We hunted compartment 5, down by the dump and along the Colorado river. It is a very nice place to hunt. I'd be glad to answer questions you may have.

A forum member owns a property bordering the state park. Lots of pigs in the area!

Congrats on winning the hunt. CBSP is so far my favorite drawn hunt. See my separate post with maps, info and photos, "Colorado Bend State Park - Drawn Youth Hunt 2017"

I will also be there end of December with three of my boys to hunt the youth hunt. They are pumped about this hunt. This is our first year to get drawn for any TPWD hunt
