Panhandle Public Deer Hunting - 05/23/19 04:20 PM

Hey Yall-

Im a student at Tech and looking to get back in to deer hunting next year (haven't deer hunted for a while, been mostly waterfowl hunting). Does anyone know anything about finding public land in the Panhandle? I know about Lake Meredith and am planning some trips up there but am also looking for some other opportunities as Ive heard that Meredith is really pressured.

Thanks and have a good one!

Don't forget the Lake Alan Henry draw conducted by the city of Lubbock.

Don’t forget New Mexico tags also. You are close to some easy to draw units with decent deer numbers.

Other than Meredith, there isn't much else in the panhandle that doesn't require being drawn. Long odds for most Texas draws or New Mexico like Bobo said. If you bowhunt and don't mind a bit of a drive, you can head south to Del Rio and hunt Amistad NRA. It's archery only but you can hike or canoe away from the crowds and it's not a bad hunt.
