Lost my tape measure in the shop today

Lost my tape measure in the shop today - 03/22/24 09:34 PM

I'm working in the shop by myself on a project today, came in the house for lunch and my tape measure disappeared. Couldn't find it in the shop, came back in the house looked around and nothing. Went back to the shop and looked again, thinking it's gotta be here. confused2 confused2
One last look and I'd set a clamp on it. I hate it when this happens.

I feel your pain

Clearly you need a bigger tape measure

No for woodworking 10-12' is perfect. A 16-25' is too big.

That's one of my moves...except I would have blamed my wife before I eventually found it!

That’s why I have 5-10 25ft tape measures. Got them laying everywhere and can’t loose them for long.

This is a thread?

I lose my tape measure no less than 5 times a day, every day

I usually have 2 or 3 out at any given time. One by the saw, one by the project and one in my pocket.
My problem is all of them end up the same place. All of them at the saw or at the project or some random place I never remember visiting.

Very similar experience for me. About 3 months ago was using the air spray nozel for air compressor to clean deck on lawn mowers. The next time I needed it I couldn’t find it. Looked in basket I store various parts for air compressor in nothing. Found it yesterday in a tool cart not feet from where it was supposed to be.
Stupid me!

Every project that requires one I can plan on 'losing' one at least once. One time I lost it because it was clipped to my belt in the small of my back. Those little tools sprout legs, I swear!

I have 4 tape measures at home, and 5 at the ranch. That way, when I lose one, I can just go get another. Every so often, I have to spend a day finding all the tape measures and returning them to the toolbox.

I keep a whole box of tape measures on my bench. Loose them and then find them again over the course of clean up.

If you want to lose something buy you a set of craftsman screwdrivers. Everything one runs off except the little phillips
