Pretty effing proud of myself

Last year, I asked for and received some leather working tools. Over the last year, I've used them mostly to do leather repairs. I practiced on some scraps, and made a very simple sheath for one of my knives. I also made a simple belt for my daughter. My son wanted a new belt, so I set out to make him one. I practiced a few patterns on some scraps, and of course, he picked the most intricate one. Just finished it up tonight. I think he's gonna love it.

I am. The pattern did get a little squirrely on the backside, but you don't notice it unless you lay it out flat. I'll get better though.

That looks good Bubba. Most people don't realize how hard basket weave really is.

Outside of some practice scraps, this was my first attempt at basket weave. I would say it is simple and straightforward. It is easy in that regard. It is just really tough to keep those lines perfectly straight!

Looks great. Just curious as to how long it takes to do something like that.

Total hours, not that much. Take into account drying time, then it took me I think 5 days. Total time on the hole punching, basketweave and edge stamping was about 5 hours, Maybe 6. Then dry. Then burnish the edges and stain. Then dry, then topcoat. Then dry. Then edge coat. Then dry. Then Neatsfoot oil. Then dry.
