Tractor & SXS Garage is up!

Tractor & SXS Garage is up! - 02/07/24 07:22 PM

I used Infinity Carports out of Edgewood, TX. It was a pleasure dealing with them and a smooth transaction. The 3 guys that did the install were some of the hardest working guys I've been around. I had my concrete guy build a pad so site was level and for drainage.
Garage is 25'D x 22'W, 10' side walls with 2 8' roll up doors. When it drys out some I'll get some rock in it to drive on. It sits behind the well house.

you said you had a concrete guy put in a pad ... from that first picture it doesn't look like it has a slab??? maybe beams under the exterior wall structures? nice looking garage!

No it's a dirt pad, concrete for a 25' x 22' building would have been $8K+. That would have cost more than the building.
It's anchored with 8 mobile home anchors and 3' rebar pounded into the ground.

What was the price for that installed? If it was under $8,000 I need their number. I’ve got a rent house that needs a garage and that would be perfect.

It was $7800.00, dirt work was $800.00 and 3 loads of dirt to make the pad was $750.00.

what kind of dirt did they bring in to make the pad? I need to build (have built) something to park our RV under / in ... RV is back in the shop getting hail damage repairs for the 2nd time in about 9 months.

Dirt is a red clay and packs as hard as a rock. I don't know the technical term.

thanks! I like that it packs well, does it seem to be sticky and track?

Re: Tractor & SXS Garage is up! - 02/14/24 11:14 PM

Not sticky and no tracking but with it sunny & windy now I have all windows and doors open to dry it out in there. I had it covered with tarps during the rain so for install it would be somewhat dry, glad I did. Once it drys out I'm going to put down 2 20mil pond liners 25'x20' over lapped to create a moisture barrier then come back with screened road base (fine material). For driving on for tractor and SXS ill put down some type of mats for tire tracks to protect the pond liners. It should work, time will tell.

Got the moisture barrier and material down today.

I took 2 20 mil pond liners that were 25'x20' and over lapped them for 40 mil thickness as a moisture barrier. On top of that I put what is called "Screening" 3-4" thick. Screening is very fine and packs rock hard once packed and dried and will not puncher the moisture barrier. I'm sure it will fill up quickly other than tractor, SXS & mower. Electrician's are coming Thursday for lights and plugs. After that the building will be done-done.
The wife and I worked like dogs getting it packed, flat & level that was the tricky part.

On to the next project.
