Nocturnal deer in Polk County

Well i guess its that time again, post rut, where the deer seem to only move at night. Still getting lots of movement/pictures at night, but haven't seen a deer during the daylight in over a week. Frustrating to say the least. This is our first year on the new lease and talking to other members it sounds like this is normal for this area. Anyone else seeing similar activity?

With the new moon you should be seeing more daytime movement. We are.

Are you able to find out where they are bedding?

I ask since even nocturnal deer do move during the day; it is just that they do not move as much nor as far as we would prefer. They do get up to stretch, nibble on close vegetation, go to the bathroom, and get out of the sun.

yea im set up about 200-300 yds away from a creek bottom that was a known bedding area before the season. Still seeing the same deer on camera that we've been watching since early October, but they seemed to change up their routines about the middle of Nov and now they only walk around at night. Hell even the Does are being sketchy. We have also have Coyotes and a large bobcat in the area, not sure if that has them spooked. Just crazy how in 7-10 days we went from seeing 2-6 deer almost every sit to absolutely nothing. I shot a decent 8pt opening weekend, and another buddy shot a hog about 800yds away, but haven't shot anything else since the 3rd. We've done our best to stay out of the area except to fill feeders and pull game cards.

Sounds like you have too much pressure on their daily routine so they adjust to moving on your property at night.

This is usually from too many hunters for the property size which happens quite often when you are hunting one hunter per 50-100 acres......which seems to be common in east Texas.......

Completely normal for the area. I've been hunting Polk for 5 years now and its always the same. The deer are moving plenty till rifle season opener then within 1 week they either dead or gone to hiding. I went the weekend after rifle opener this season (thinking it would be more calm) and it was amazing the amount of gun fire i heard on that Saturday morning.
