Son's First Biggun! - 01/02/16 08:20 PM
My son shot this 9pt we call "Big D" this morning, our last hunt of the season.
Had several deer at the feeder and all of a sudden he popped up outta nowhere under the feeder. I had my suppressed 308 on a tripod and my son got up behind it. As he was looking down the scope waiting for that perfect shot our popup began shaking crazily! I looked at my son and saw his whole body was trembling from buck fever! I whispered to him to back off the rifle. I grabbed him by both shoulders and told him to relax, take a deep breath, and have fun. He smiled at me, got on the gun, and pulled the trigger.
The buck buckled where it stood and didn't take another step. I watched as it hit the ground and excitement overtook the both of us. The celebration began! I was so overjoyed for my boy I almost shed a tear with happiness. We waited a few minutes pumping each other up and then my son took off running towards his first trophy. I sat and watched as he came upon the buck and the smile that grew on his face.
Couldn't be a happier man at that moment. Nothing like it.
