Coleman County 8

Coleman County 8 - 11/22/14 04:42 PM

I am new here and hope that I can post my picture properly. Opening morning as I walked to my tower stand I was totally bummed out to see that the box had blown off the stand from a previous storm. It was a terrible feeling as I was so excited about the new hunting season.I spent the day saturday frantically building a new box so I could hunt that evening and sunday morning. I figured that I scared off everything and was bummed out. Sunday morning I was in shock as this nice 8 steps out for a broadside shot. 13 years on this lease I have never seen any deer like this with mass all the way thru the tines and beams. I have been smiling for 2 weeks.

THF tff face book for outdoorsman lol. Great deer and welcome to the forum pic worked just fine as I see an amazing eight. Don't see that much mass often that way. Do y'all feed protein? May have spent his life eating protein some poor guy has been feeding and a little lady led him right to you:) I was working on my tree stand mid day two weeks before bow season had been hammering and sawing. As I finished I poured a few bags of feed in and was loading up at the truck 30 yards away and three does were approaching.

Re: Coleman County 8 - 11/23/14 01:46 PM

I hunt on 455 acres in east coleman county that borders brown county and nearest small town called Grosvenor. Not too much hunting pressure around us and the deer can age. 2 hunters have been protein feeding for 3 years but the genetics in our area are not that great for trophy deer and I have never seen any deer taken off our place with this kind of mass carried out thru the tines. I am sure that this is an 8 that I passed last year and wondered if I should have taken him. He has a gross green score of 145 5/8 (5 1/2 to 6 1/2 years old)and is a personal best. It is difficult for an 8 point to have a high score and that really makes this deer so special for me.
